| Rear ratio / pinion & spur mesh
I'm trying to gear down and I bought a losi 16t pinion and my motor won't slide close enough to get a proper mesh. Should I up the spur gear a couple teeth or file and drill away on the motor plate? Also my spur gear moves in and out on the output shaft, an ones else's move like that? Thanks!

My spur also moved for a bit. Didn't bother me though. I opted for a 87t spur ( taken from my SCX101) with an 18t pinion. Works perfect with an LRP vector 8,5 sensored BL. Plenty fast, runs like forever on a 2cell 4ah LiPo, and can still crawl pretty darn well. Last edited by Jay-Em; 11-05-2011 at 02:25 PM. Reason: Typoooos |

So I drilled and filed on the motor plate and got a little closer, but what I found was more less the stock axial 20t was up against the gear box. It has a decent mesh so I'll run the 16/80 and see what I think. I might up the spur gear a few teeth so I have better clearance away form the gear box. The torque is much better from what I can see so far though. At first I wanted fast and ok crawling, but ive found I like crawling more so I'm slowing it down and upping the torque.

I like the speed and torque with a 84t spur and 18t pinion it is kinda in the middle of the speed and crawling gearing for the wraith and has worked out great for me.
