I got a Wraith kit about a month ago & have been tinkering with it ever since. After doing a bunch of reading on here, I decided to upgrade as I go to eliminate the known weak links & build a capable, reliable rig.

Parts list as of 3-7-12:
Vanquish knuckles, chubs, tied rod, drag link, & upper links
Axial 72-103mm aluminum shocks
MIP driveshafts
Robinson Racing tranny gears
Robinson Racing 32p 15t pinion gear
Kimbrough 32p 60t spur gear
Savox SC-1256TG servo x2
Vanquish SLW V4 wheels OR Locked Up Rc wheels
Crawler Innovations Double Deuce foams
R35 Ripsaws OR Proline Swampers
Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster 13t motor
Holmes Hobbies BR-XL waterproofed ESC
CC BEC Pro
MG200 winch bumper
3racing winch
ARB diff covers
Futaba 4PL radio

Still want to add 4WS. It's finally installed"thumbsup"

Anyway, enough talk, on to some pix.

I didn't like the way the stock "tranny" hump stuck out, so I cut it off. I still wanted some way to keep a bunch of mud & rocks from being shot into the interior, so I had to make a firewall. I used .016" aluminum, it's a little thin, but it will work. I cut off some spare beadlock bolts & viola, I have a firewall"thumbsup"

Nice I like that implementation on the firewall.

Thats a nice list of parts you have going, keep the pictures coming.

Why the name Deep Purple you might ask? Well, I painted it Candy Blue, & backed it with Outlaw Black. It turned it almost black, but in the light it looks purple. My wife was hassling me about having a purple rig:lmao:, & Deep Purple is a mighty fine band. It's not really what I intended, but I think it looks alright.

I went ahead & added hood hinges. While I was at it, I made a "tailgate". It obviously still needs a little trimming, but I'm about 10 beers in, so it won't happen tonight:lmao:

looks sweet!"thumbsup". I'm also going to need to do something with the hood like that , were did you get those pins that hold the hood down.

Thanks. The pins are Traxxas #3727(battery hold down plate). I got them here:

Put together the shocks this morning. I have a hard time bleeding shocks & I usually end up pissed off that I can't get it right.

This is a good write up on building the Axial shocks:
Shock Building Tips
I bled them through the cartridge & it worked great. I did have one I had to take apart & do over, but definitely better than it usually goes:ror:

It's coming along real nice keep up the good work."thumbsup" I think I might just paint up the body panels tomorrow just thinking of what color to get.

mamcleo 11-20-2011 05:27 PM

Did you just repaint the stock panels? If so, did you have to do anything special? My uncle and I both have a wraith and I want to paint mine to make it different, but I'm not sure where to start.

ickabob 11-20-2011 05:44 PM

nice makes me want to finish up with my wraith now...

Good looking rig you have there8)

Danno 11-22-2011 08:59 AM

Curious as to what wheel width you chose for the Vanquish SLW V4 wheels? And what size hex hubs to go with them? Thanks

I got the 1" wheels with 475 hubs. Hopefully in the next day or 2 I can get the tires mounted.

That paint looks great.
I was thinking about doing the sme thing with some candy red and black to back it. Would use very little red though so the color is a little more subdued...
Looks sweet though..

Got a couple of tires mounted up. These wheels are straight up sexy8) They went together really easy. I was pleasantly surprised:shock:. I need to take my 7mm nut driver to work & modify it to work with the hubs.
