Just bought the Wraith Kit, any tips?

So I recently picked up the Wraith Kit (not the RTR) and I'm wondering if there's any tips anybody has regarding building one of these. It's my first scratch build, but luckily the LHS has a great owner who is more than happy to help out. I know the Wraith Kit comes with the 7mm Aluminum Lower Links and Universal Joint Axles, but is there anything else I should look into upgrading to? I'm not too concerned with electronics, I'll be using my XL5 and 45t Rock Star till I can save up for a Sidewinder V2 with a BEC (being a university student sucks) to run my winch off my Spektrum.

Looking forward to hearing what you guys think!

I plan on changing out the stock plastic rims for some 2.2 Lockers.

knuckles, hubs and steering linkage seem to be a good place to start...mind you with the universals, the stock knuckles and hubs will likely last longer...

Alright, I'll jot that down. New to Axial Crawlers so what kind of knuckles/hubs are the best for a fair price?

Vanquish C-Hubs, Knuckles well worth the money."thumbsup"

Something I noticed while building my kit was some of the plastic parts trees were labeled differently than what the manual showed. Not a big deal, but it was a "WTF that's not right" moment. Have fun building"thumbsup"

vanquish sure seems to be the nicest stuff out there...I got the strc knucles and hubs...no complaints, went on well and their alot cheaper...there may be a reason their cheaper, but i'm new to rc and they look just fine to me...

I'll definitely look in Vanquish parts. I'm excited for the build, give me some time to get away from studying now and again.

Also a good idea will be to get metal tranny gears. Robinson racing or hotracing.

Are you going to build it for speed or crawl?
If you are not going for speed and super powerfull motors the metal gears are likely overkill.
If you ever decide to run the stock 20T motor, gear it down!

Play with it stock and research what has been done to other kits. Create a budget and save, work hard, have patience and you will have what you want into a wraith. It's a blast and this be the best place to get a bunch of ideas.

Here is what I have currently but is now disassembled for more upgrades to come.
