COCO's Wraith - "EL Diablo" Back to YOTA Its been a LONG TIME since I have posted anything on here:shock: almost couldnt believe how long it has been myself! They call me COCO in case you were kinda scratching your head on the title :ror: :ror: Well about a month ago, I picked up an RTR wraith. I got home, and tore it apart. Never ran it or anything:ror: This is a slower progressing "build" if you wanna call it that. I first decided to upgraded the links. There were several options out there for this, Chaotic Crawlers had just released there Axial Wraith Suspension Links though a great product, I couldnt justify the cash. After seeing a couple different wraith setups, I decided to try the STRC bent links Custom Crawler Parts 30 deg. bend threaded suspension links (Silver) that were originally designed for the AX10. I picked up 2 sets, one set was silver, one purple. I got them for about a third of the cost, and figured I had all the different rod ends to make them work. Wheelbase is now punched out to just over 14". I de-anodized the purple links, and got them all installed. http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/328871a0.jpg Just the rear installed. Wanted to make sure they all fit before I opened/de-anodized the purple links. http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/083ec2e6.jpg As you can see I picked up new tires and wheels while I was at it, I always liked the proline TSL tires so that is what I went with. Wheels are xr10 beadlocks, with the rear wheels narrowed. I relocated the RX box to the rear, and moved it up as far as it could go. I ended up cutting the box in half to clear the cross bar behind the seats (I dont ever plan on running my wraith in water ;-)) battery went up front under the hood. I then did some interior work (still not done) The driver had a hard time seeing the GPS and guages in the stock location. I decided to build some new "mounts" and "gauge pods" out of styrene. This is what I came up with: http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/9d1d4554.jpg Finished: http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/2a220731.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/a30e6b80.jpg I wanted to do rear steer on this beast all along, so I picked up some stock stuff from a buddy that upgraded early, and went to town. http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/54853c7b.jpg Stay tuned, more to come along with pics from its maiden voyage this past weekend!!! |

I picked up some new springs for the wraith while I was at it, the stock ones are just too stiff for my liking. I picked up some axial blacks for the front, and losi whites for the rear. Painted them black since I hate mismatched spring colors  I had a Tamiya Hilux grill sitting for another project ill eventually get too, and thought it would look sick on the wraith, so I pulled out some fishing line and started cutting. And this is the end result http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/6428c0de.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/a9fbe72e.jpg Painted up the seats, just sick of looking at the grey, so they are now red and black. dont really match anything right now as I am still figuring out what/how to paint my clear panels I got for it. calle up Chaotic Crawlers, and picked up two of there Axial Wraith Steering Tierod Sets and wired it up for Moab. Fried the esc 10 sec after plugging in the lipo to program the steering:x so I had to pick up a FXR. But no biggie, works great with the Rock Star 35t i picked up as well"thumbsup" Thats pretty much it on "building" so far:ror: |
Took it to Moab this past weekend, and had a BLAST with it! For its first maiden voyage, it sure was a riot, and it worked great!! The rear steer was awesome, and really was fun to play with, and see with the rig could do with it. Anyway, enough blabbering, onto the pics:ror: http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/DSCF0082.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/DSCF0084.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/DSCF0085.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/DSCF0090.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/DSCF0103.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/DSCF0113.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/DSCF0112.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/DSCF0111.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/DSCF0143.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/DSCF0134.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/DSCF0158.jpg |

Update Time Been busy the last couple days!! Got some more work down on the wraith, the interior is nearing the complete stage now, got some more styrene work down, and painted up a good portion of the interior. http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/54cf7d47.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/52c6a2f2.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/aa57feb7.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/e4dbedac.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/115b53d1.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/115b53d1.jpg Chopped the top:shock: http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/5d1e573f.jpg and painted the panels. The hood didnt come out as well as I was hoping, but live and learn. you can kinda see the face I masked out in it, just gotta look hard. :ror: tried something different when it was time to paint the side panels, and they turned out much better "thumbsup" http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/722b5d0f.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...h/4a0e0419.jpg |
