Default RTR Electronics ?

Are the stock radio, esc and servo worth the extra $50 or so over a kit?
and are there any difference in the RTR and kit vehicles themselves ?
I want a kit but with everything else I got going on and Christmas just around the corner I can't afford a kit, motor, esc, servo all together. Thought about rtr then selling off radio now and other electronics later, but if the kit is better I'll get it and wait till after Christmas money comes it

Kit has front universals, and aluminium lower links. That's it. No lights, no motor. Nuttin'

The RTR is actually pretty good value for money. Decent 2.4 ghz, nice micro-receiver. Pretty darn good castle ESC and lights!. ..C'm on..lights!

Motor is iffy, though. Burns up too quick. Any cheap 550, say a graupner speed 600 race 7.2v, will outperform, and outlast it. Won't get as hot too. Can't fathom why Axial did not include a cheap 550 from the get-go. About every manufacturer of big-wheeled rigs includes a 550. Traxxas, Kyosho, heck, even Reely...

Won't be much faster though, buuut, has gobs more torque over the anemic 20t, and can thusly be geared to the moon...

Look at Harley's thread for beginners to pick&choose upgrades along the way.

My rtr has had a dozen + packs thru it with no issues...I run the snot out of it too...I have back up stuff waiting for the stock esc/motor to quit on me...nothing to date is telling me that's happening any time soon.

Ended up grabbing the RTR just based on availability, best RTR I've ever purchased! Nice TX & RX, good ESC, and the stock servo hasn't given me any issues yet. Have a bunch of new parts waiting to go in but trying to fry the stockers first. No luck yet lol! I would buy the RTR again in a minute! Just my .02. Good luck with your purchase.

man, go with the kit.

the RTR, i am sure, has fine electronics for a kid and such. But personally, like my own selected electronics. thats just me.

If the only difference between the rtr and kits are the lights and uni's I think I will get the rtr and upgrade electronics later.

i havnt had to replace any electronics from my rtr. keep in mind it hasn't seen any water, i keep up on the bushing that keeps the output on the servo tight and my gears are low so my motor has never really been pushed verry hard. have had it a few months it has many hrs on it. not saying all these couldnt use an upgrade.
