Default BONDO's WRAITH BUILD

The long awaited build has begun, Heres the kit in the box and a slew of aftermarket upgrades and hop ups. I will explain in detail best as possible with lots of pics as I proceed, enjoy.
These posts and Pics are being copied from my other forum, I'm sure you crawler guys will see this pretty much as normal stuff with a few twists.

STOCK DIFF GEAR ANDS LOCKER

AXIAL HD DIFF GEAR AND PINION, Locker made by the German guy here on RCC

The stock axle configuration for the kit is dogbones in the rear and cvd's up front. I went with RC4WD HD cvd's(with brass collar) for the front and the Axial CVD for the rear.

Center assembly together

Aluminum diff cover

I'm using HotRacing aluminum parts for C-hubs etc, I like the clean look of the Black Anodizing, I'm running a Permanent Sharpie marker over the HR to accentuate the clean look.

Is that HR diff cover suppose to go over the stock? Looks like its got extra holes for the fake bolts to show through.

My bad, was looking at the thread originally on a POS work computer. Now looking at it on my iPhone, I can see the other spots are just etched.
I do really like those diff covers though.

Carry on!

I loved using the stainless RC Screwz on my build.

BUT, I didn't like how they decided to use cap screws for the cage rather then the button head supplied with the wraith.

Also, RC Screwz didn't include the M3 threaded rod for the links.

I have the white compund Ripsaws via the kit, PL M3 Hammers and a set of RC4WD MudSlingers and for rims I have PL 8 shooter chrome Beadlocks(thinking of dying?) and a set of Alum BdLks on order thru the LHS.

Had an hour or so to wrench this afternoon while everyone took a nap, bums.

Was able to build the shocks and install servos and get together some links for front steering. Also installed the Vanquish Titanium Upper and Lower Links.

I was going to use the hitec 5090 Robot servos but have decided on the JR DS8711 because they are slightly faster and have 70ozs of torque more at 6volts.

I'm not crazy about the Hot Racing drag link I have on the rear assembly, I might use the same set up I put together for the front ?

Heres the REAR assembly

Heres the Front assembly mocked up a Hitec servo, once the servo arms I'm useing show up the left side linkage will be even with the right side.

That's pretty thin...wait till you wack a rock at speed. And ime stay far away from stainless screws in RC...they are not nearly as strong as regular good quality steel. I had a set and had to drill out several when they snapped or the head rounded out and no driver would remove them! :(

I think you have more money in your axles than I do in my whole truck! Also, on the one pic of you assembled axles, I see what looks like the 2 steering links coming from your servo in two different holes on the horn. If I am looking at it correctly, 1 tire will steer sharper than the other. Nice build, lots of good parts there!

Edit: What hexes are those? I have the SCX10 slim ones on mine now, and my RC4WD wheel rub just a hint on the knuckle, those would solve my problem!

I agree and I've given this some thought already, I'm going to look into making a simple small skid thayt'll help protect the lower half of the cover and hopefully enable getting over obstructions/rocks as well ? I do think with the radius these covers have I bet they're pretty tough anyway, I'll know the first good whack.
So far I've have good luck with the Tonys screws.

Yup, I made mention of that in the post above the pic in question, thanks.

Thanks, I'm lucky enough to work at the LHS and get ghetto deals on most everything, If it wasn't for that I surely couldn't afford half the toys I own.

They are some old Kyosho locking hexes I found on Ebay.

Got a little bit more done today, I build the trans with all RRP steel and hard anodized gears and swapped the 48pitch in favor 32pitch gearing. I seen most guys were talking about limited gearing options with the Kimborough spurs but like usual I'm got to thinking a little out of the box and grabbed a E-Revo spur gear and wadda ya know It fit ?
My frist gearing test with my 10.5 Viper motor will be with 56/18 for 14.50 MPH which may be a bit much but I have lots of working room !
With the SPurs that fit a 40/25+ is very feasable with the STRC motor mount plate or a dremel and stock plate.
