Default Squeaky Squeaky

I was out crawling in the snow, mud, slush last weekend with -1 C temps, and after a while my truck started a loud rotational squeak noise, which was worse in reverse. Got home, put it on the bench (and let it warm up) and the squeak was gone. Just wondering what a common area is that I should keep lubricated when I do water crossings? And I read somewhere ( but don't remember where) that after submerging your brushed motor you should spray it...WD40? Silicone spray? Penetrating oil?
thanks

keeping your bearings, axles, trans greased goes a long way. spraying any type of oil in an electric motor is not a good idea.

WD-40 is safe to use on electronics. It is used frequently to dry out auto ignition systems as it it non-conductive, displaces water, and lubricates the parts without getting sticky.. Not a bad idea to use it when cleaning a motor after a long hard weekend of running in the elements IMO.

But it will also penetrate the bearing's and wash the grease out..So a good idea to re-grease them after using WD40 on any of them.

EDIT: Using WD40 for what it is - is OK. (Water Displacement) But after that it should be cleaned off with Contact Cleaner or something similar..

I have found that with these Axial universals, WD40 quiets them down completely....that is the only noisy spot on my wraith. I just pull the universal, coat it with WD40 then wipe off some of the excess leaving a nice film on most of it.
