Default gearing with a titan 12t

hey everyone,
i just picked up a wraith kit, put in a traxxas waterproof servo, a traxxas xl5 and a titan 12t as well. I put in the 20t pinion and ran it for 45 mins (trail run) then the motor stopped a few days later. I then put in a venom fireball 15t 540 and ran it for 5 mins, put it away and now its dead as well
i got another titan 12t but im wondering what pinion to use?
i cant get any other spurs in time for my comp, but what pinion should i use?
i ran a 19 tooth pinion on the 15t, and nothing now.
i hooked up my new motor (the second titan 12t) and now that motor works
it seems im blowing out my motors and i dont want to destroy another motor
help guys
thank you
on and btw, i broke in the 15t but not the first titan motor

put mit in water on a d batt. then clean it an oil it an put it in . keep it on 2 cells not three an put a 15 or 16 on it an u should be fime . its 3 cells that dont make them last long for they are a 7.2 volt motor. im running the 21 trun for a emax the 14.4 volt on an its great for trail running an slow crawl but its not real fun as far as going fast by no means

.. strange. I've been running my titan 12t with the stock gearing for a few 2s lipo packs now. Have had zero problems.

i run a 20c continuous 40c dump 5000mah 2s. from a stop, it spins the wheels straight to full throttle, zero lag or acceleration needed other then needing to gain traction. have 5 or 6 packs on this titan 12t so far and havent had any issues with it, other then sand and little rocks getting it from my laziness to put a screen on it.

12t Titans are a bit of hit'n miss
The Slash-fora are filled with guys that run and abuse them for ages, but also those that cannot get even 1 pack through them without blowing up. Stock-gearing et all.

Mine ran fine for ages on a 80 / 23 gearing. Yet, I tried it in a Kyosho DB, 82/19 1:11,( rather conservative) and the collector burned bad, heating up the buggered thing till the bushings seized. Odd.

Got me a new one ( a hong-nor 550 12t, same thing, different sticker) and it ran fine.

It's just as it is. The 21t Titan on 3S is, apparently a bit more robust.
