cage mod 5 Attachment(s) well i wasnt sure if i wanted to cut it or not but im happy with it its going to show all those cool scale items prolines coming out with in dinky's cargo box going to have to get a new box tho this ones got alot of gaps now still have to get some heat shrink to cover the bars with and smooth out the sanding a little more but it did what i wanted it to . let me know what you think |
Re: cage mod that looks very clean! i like"thumbsup" |
Re: cage mod 1 Attachment(s) oops forgot the pics with roof on lol |
Re: cage mod Looks great especially with the roof mod. Nice work! |
Re: cage mod thanks guys it will look better tomorrow finish cleaning the bars and try to blend it in . ive got an idea for a cloth top just trying to find right parts for it |
Re: cage mod looks good. where did you get that bed for it? |
Re: cage mod Do you heat the plastic to get it to bend? |
Re: cage mod the drop bed is from dinky's and yes a little heat were i wanted it to bend ans the extra length is from the two x bars i cut out drilled and taped dead center with a jig i made |
Re: cage mod that does look really well done...been back and forth on doing this to mine.... |
Re: cage mod Nice mods to the cage! Looks great with the panels. |
Re: cage mod Very good change, this rear change must be the best style I've sean... very good. These two ends of the tube were bent with heat until they are aligned and then opened the thread to finish with a threaded rod, right? how the low end of the tip was screwed to the top end? |
Re: cage mod i made a jig to drill both ends dead enter then too a 1.5 long 6/32 screw ground the end off to make a rod sort of just like putting links together heated it were i wanted the bend brought it down to were i wanted it to meet the back marked and cut the bevel then drilled again dead center for a self tapping screw like the ones holding the cage together drilled a clearance hole in the rear were the screw for the back support is in the same indent and screwed it thru the the back panels cover the screws. the only thing is watch the heat it doesnt take much and im going to put a pc of heat shrink the hole way up to cover the seam its right on but i think it will look better if you want pics of the jig just yell its really easy to make |
Re: cage mod Quote:
the rear risers are gone i used the two bars in the roof you cut out to make the the support bars longer |
Re: cage mod Ok I understand, can You show us some pics of the jig you made... |
Re: cage mod 4 Attachment(s) here it is you need it to be around 2" long clamp it in the drill press drill a hole the drill size for the tap your using right thru it then with out moving it drill it again half way thru with the tube size i used 17/64 it was very tight . the idea is not to let the tube move when drilling it and letting the guide guide the tap size drill bit . the 1" of stock in the guide should hold the bit streight . slide the guide over the tube and drill it. i hope i didnt confuse anyone if i did just yell |
Re: cage mod Thanks snohiker...."thumbsup" I will try to do that. |
Re: cage mod 2 Attachment(s) a couple with new roof |
Re: cage mod well i put 1/4 inch heat shrink over the tubes and you cant even tell i spliced it will get some pics tonite to show it off . im very happy with the results |
