just gonna leave it the way it is for now. The 3M is a good idea! but with the polish on there its not a problem in terms of finger printing or anything. water beads right off of it like a normal car with a good wax"thumbsup" keep it from water spotting as well.

I made my hood and panels out of 17 gauge aluminum and they finger print. Did you use aluminum wheel polish or did you just hit them with a bench polisher and polishing compound.???????

3M rubbing compound (like what you would put on a buffer for a car)


Since were on the topic to polishing cars......

my shop just finished this for a customer.
100% hand made alu body in house.
then we chose to polish it instead of paint it8)

That is unbelieable. I am a master collision tech, painter etc. But i never had that kind of talent. I would love to see that being made. I worked on alot of Porsche's and they were all soft metal like aluminum. Thanks for sharing that with me. "thumbsup"

Thanks that says it all. I started with lead in 1965 and retired in 97 so a whole world has passed me by. LOL I am sanding my hood with 600 now and well get out the buffer and polish it with rubbing compound and then some wax. I well post a picture when done. Thank for making me get off my butt and finish the job.

my panels are done with 400 grit then hit with grey (very fine) scotch brite then hit with the compound on a rag / buffer. I have not waxed them but try i its something i have not tried! then the occasional wipe brings it right back to new! (minus all the rock carnage mine always gets:mrgreen:)

Wow you did that with a spool gun. I wish i still had a tig welder. Its hard to work without tools. Your scoop hood is great and would make any wraith look better.

Well my friend, I can not understand why you are not making a little spare change being a Vendor. you got some mad skills.

I would love to see some polished mirror looking skins, Sure they would get messed up. But that would look wicked.

that is done with a tig. exuse my shit welds i ran out of 1100 rod and had to use 4043, it doesent like 3003 alu :cry:
