Default Natedog's Wraith Kit Build now with Shock & Awe

As she sits currently, I went back to the full length roof cage because I kept breaking cage pieces with the fastback cage mod setup. I left the roof lexan short which I think looks better than the full length.

With SSD 2.2" STEEL 10 HOLE WHEELS (SILVER)

WIth XR10 beadlocks

The perfect box is a Radio Shack project box, available in several sizes, cut and CA as needed for your electronics! It fits my FXR, CC BEC, and Flysky 3 channel RX.

Current list of mods/parts...it's never really done. I will update this list as I add or change parts!

Stock Axial Wraith KIT springs are supposed to be black according to kit instructions, but mine all have a small purple paint spot on the end which according to Axial's site is 14x70mm 1.43 lbs/in.....weird because they feel a little stiffer than the Losi whites?!??

Losi: 2.5" Spring 2.3 Rate, Pink: Losi (LOSA5150)

Also bought a set of 2.5" Red 2.5 rate and Orange 2.9 rate for tuning.

Thanks but I like plastic, lightweight, non-conductive. Passenger floor gets it as low as possible, I'll run a driver's seat though. Still need a driver too.

Couldn't you make one or trim down a radio box? Looking very effective the red and black.

Yes, thought about building a styrene box etc...pics coming later of several nice little boxes I've found with brand, specs, etc. I'm picky and like to do it once if I can.

Some radio boxes I considered. On the left is Radio Shack 2x3x1" project box.

Middle is a two box set...smaller box is 2.5" square x 1.25" tall, larger box is 3.25" square x 1.5" tall.....these are made by Claris Seal Ware (but it says "Kiramas" molded into bottom of both boxes, they are made in Indonesia (bought at 99 Cent Only store) for you guessed it $0.99 for the two box set. These have a very nice tight sealing lid.

Box on the right is also from 99 Cent Store, made in China by Be Fresh! and called Mini Storage Containers....there are 10 of these miniature Tupperware like boxes in one package, the lids seal but not nearly as tightly as I would have liked.

My short rear axle shaft with too thick a flange (at right side of pic you'll see that the top axle flange is more like a knife edge than the thicker rounded bottom axle), Axial sent me a new replacement after an email and it arrived in about one week. This works but Axial should have just slightly relocated the flange itself.

What I wanted all in ONE sealed box! Also my selection of Ace Hardware rubber grommets that I was going to use around my wires where they pass through the electronics box.

Stock Wraith radio box in stock location with stock battery moved up front and ready to cut to fit for the battery forward mod. Associated Electrics hood pin screws installed for rear hinged hood.

Will it all fit???

It fits, just had to Dremel out the diagonally opposed lid screw parts in the bottom part of the plastic project box.

My under hood battery mount with battery.

Buddy just sent me this link to a nice looking waterproof box.

I love the look of the cut off roof cage, but what to do for rear bracing? I was going to do mine and I have a heat gun to bend the roof tubes down to meet the lower horizontal tubes, then drill hole and screw it together. I don't really like the way guys are using metal rod linkage or pieced together plastic for the rear diagonal braces, because I'm hard on my crawler and the metal will bend and the pieced together stuff will separate.

Now I'm not sure, will I snap the horizontal tube where they screw together in a hard roll or?

I did a passenger side esc and stock electronics box today, but I also converted my wraith to a right hand drive due to the placement of all my wiring and how it was prior to putting an interior in

Thanks, it fit's great up front like that. I used an Axial AX10 /SCX10 battery plate, cut it up, drilled and mounted. Threaded the velcro strap between tray and chassis. It's a Turmigy 1300mah 3s1p.

UPDATE: 2200 and 2650 3s1p will not fit in there, I bought the 2200 3s1p which should have been tight fit as per HK's site, but I didn't like the wire routing and it didn't crawl as well as with the little 1300 3s1p pack.

The green link is also AX-10 leftover from upper stock link...it's 55mm.

Thanks for the replies, yes thought about lowering it, but for where I've been running it's pretty good. We'll see.

I've been using my 1300mah 3s1p lipos in my Wraith....nice and light I use em in my Honcho...got six of them. I didn't get a good timing of it cause it was raining off and on all afternoon and was having so much fun....seems like about 30 minutes or a little more runtime. I get about 45 minutes with these batteries in my Honcho.

I'm researching and measuring for either a 2200, 2650 or 3300mah 3s lipo...leaning towards 2650 as good weight, size and runtime compromise.

My radio box mocked up. After mounting with two 3mm flathead screws, flat washers and thin Axial 3mm locknuts, I double-sided taped verything inside, black RTV silicone sealed all wires and rx antenna....mounted up in passenger location.

At the lake

I like the look without the roof lexan on better. Still thinkin about cuttin the back half of the cage offf.

You're welcome!

Some new bucket seats....waiting for a coat of paint...black. Trimmed them up after these pics around the top to make em look better. That's my pattern in white cardstock, used the piece of gold ano aluminum to bend the nice crisp bend in the 0.030" lexan. Used body reamer to make holes at base where back bends up from the base, then cut it out with lexan scissors, makes it easier to bend and less likely to fatigue and crack at the bend.
