| Question about motor?
Hey guys I noticed a lot of people dropping the Traxxas Titan 21t in their Wraiths. WHats the deal with that? Is it considered better than the stocker?

the stock motor is pretty S%^T, most people, including me, put it through a couple of packs then die. most motors that come stock are this way, as it is usually the first upgrade that people will make.

I think the traxxas motor is cheap and readily available, so makes a good option for people. It may be a little better than the axial, but not compared to a good motor like a Holmes or Brood.

It's cheap, accepts 4s without a hitch, runs a looong time on 4000mah. And, most important, is pretty darn torque-y Even on just 2cells it's -although slow as a snail- way more dependable than the 20t axial put in. The 20t one is only useful for trail-riding. Crawling will burn it to smithereens pretty quick. Use it for a 2wd buggy or a TC, but nót a monster-truck/KOH rig. Axialshould have put in a 12t 550 (titan-like) from the get-go. Never understood why they thought a 2kg car equipped with a weezy stock 20t rs540 was a good idea. |

Thats what I run. Works great and it was cheap until I can afford a good one!

I have the Titan in my Wraith also. Pretty awesome motor and agree with everyone else the crappy motor axial puts in it they should be ashamed. Mine made it through 2 packs. I have a Holmes Hobby motor sitting here i`ve had for about a month now waiting for this Titan to die so i can replace it and it`s still going strong with no issues at all. I`m using stock gearing on 2`s, crawls great |

maybe search e-bay for an older evx-1? that's also a 14+v esc. most 1/8 and Short-course brushless ESC's will also accept 4 lipo-cells, and more often than not, will run brushed motors too. Ask Your LHS. 21t 550 on 14,8v gets a bit hot, but not as hot as the axial 20t 540 (i burnt the 540's comm after only 3 packs) Used it a very short time, realized that i hate brushed motors' limited durability, sold it. i currently run a sensored LRP 8.5t with an LRP Ai pro. in the "crawly" wraith, and a sensored 6.5t Losi excelorin and an LRP Sphere pro in the KOH "speed demon" Wraith.(does 45km/h on 2 cells, and still crawls reasonably) Last edited by Jay-Em; 03-07-2012 at 03:33 PM. | |
