The Dirty South Build

So this build is a first for me on many levels. This is my first crawler so please bare with me. So bought a wraith about two weeks ago and I am already itching to build a new chassis for this thing. After some research I came up with this. It is based off the Eleanor Chassis.

So far right now everything is still stock, minus the upper and lower links being custom made out of all thread sleeved with brake line. The Electronics are going to get replaced along with a sensored brushless system and HiTech Servo then some RC4WD IROK's mounted on RC4WD Predator beadlock rims.

Re: The Dirty South Build

After many failed attempts
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...-03-15_158.jpg
We hit success with the lower part of the chassis bendshttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...-10-35_714.jpg
We also nailed the the part that connects to the above pic and also the shock hoopshttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...-02-48_402.jpg
We got anxious with our success and wanted to start the brazing process but we didn't make it to far untill we ran out of Oxygen...http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...-02-41_914.jpg
We have some grinding and tidying up to do on the braces before we braze the upper chassis bar. I would say this has been a very successful night seeing as it is our first time bending and brazing.

Also when I keep saying we I mean myself and NumbCrawling!

Re: The Dirty South Build

Hahahaha. Yeah, it's coming along nicely. On our failed attempts we were using a bending jig that we had built out of a piece of plate steel and some bolts/washers/what-have-you, but that didn't work properly. So today, en lieu of our failures, we went down to O'Reilly autoparts and grabbed a cheap, $5 tube bender and it suits the purpose perfectly. This is my first time bending up a chassis or anything of that nature so the pile of ruined parts that the pic shows is the result of my learning curve

This is our inspiration/reference, a bit ambitious for a first but it is coming around rather well.

I am def. happy with the progress. We made some progress today but the darn oxygen tank ran out on us again. So we will pick things back up tomorrow.

Indeed it is, sad news though is that warriorsimi already made the Eleanor Chassis.

So after some thought, I think we are going to modify our build a bit. I shall get some new drawing up soon...

Update: This is the remodeled version,

Finally made some more progress on the chassis:

Also made some links, upper and lower out of all thread sleeved with brake line. I think they came out well.

Long long overdue update:

This build has taken a total 180 turn, still got a bit of work left on it but I got burnt out plus I am getting ready to move to Alaska so if your there hit me up I'll be in Anchorage in Nov.

Anyways here is where I have made it from the above posts...let me know what you like about and what you dislike about it!

Having Poison Ivy made by warriorsimi in my possession - id say yours looks great - especially for a first time.

Be sure and build a space for the electronics and a space up front and down low for a battery that is easy to get to.

Keep up the good work.
