Default Wraith RTR Stock Motor

Hi everyone

I'm very new to RC crawling (and RC cars as well, all of my experience is more into RC helis and quadcopters), so I've ordered myself a Wraith RTR to start with. For a start I won't be using my Wraith for pure crawling, mostly some forest off-roading, mudding, running in snow, etc. I've read threads here on recommended parts and have a question:

- I want to keep the stock motor during my introductory stage to my Wraith. But I don't want this stage to last for 5 minutes and have the motor burned. So I've decided to change spur gear from 80t stock to 87t, and pinion from 20t to 15t. Is that a good idea or is that too slow? Maybe I can settle with 87t spur / 20t pinion (stock)? I must say that parts availability where I live is scarce, so I don't have the 84t / 16t choice which is recommended in one of the stickies.

Thanks in advance!

Stock is a 27 turn....maybe order one extra when ordering your Wraith. I ran mine pretty hard for a couple of months before it got smelly hot and slowed down quite a bit....that's when I changed the whole thing out for a brushless system. The stock motor is actually pretty good....and it's pretty cheap also...just order an extra one. My bet is you'll break other things before the motor goes.

Have fun

Get a set of the 32P speed gears over at CKRC. I got a set of both crawling and speed gears and like them both. My stock motor has held up fine so far but I stripped out the old spur gear and broke a few links. i upgrade as I break stuff
