Default TEAM DEBEAD'S Wraith KIT Build

I came home the other night from work and saw a surprise on my doorstep. The size and shape looked like an XR10, but boy did my jaw drop when I saw what was inside:

Here's what's inside the box:

I don't have all my electronics yet, but here are some Axial Goodies that are gonna help make this build bullet proof:

This Wraith is going to be a sand eating machine, intended to carve the dunes of Glamis, fly over the flats of Ocotillo, and climb the rocks of Borrego.

I'm partnering up with Frankenwheely to make this thing happen. As we figure out and order our electronics, we'll start building the axles and cage. I have a nice jar of GEARSCIENCE waiting to get all over the gears of this thing There are some MIP driveshafts I'm eyeing off one of my other rigs, may have to steal em for this build We'll keep everyone updated as we make some progress.

I am happy and thankful to be working on this project. Can't wait to get some goodies to get some power to this.

Nice!

I love riding dirt bikes at Glamis and Ocotillo. We need video once it's running.

Trust me, the video is the main thing I'm thinking about, which is why Frankenwheely is helping me with the build, someone should be concentrating on the putting it together part . I've been writing down video ideas for the Wraith since I first saw one. I actually have a storyboard I folded up months ago that says "Open in Case of Wraith"

All right, we made some progress and put together the axles. We start with Bag A:

NOTE: The Diff Cases are NOT in Bag A, they are in with the knuckles, chubs, servo horns, etc...

Thanks to a GEARSCIENCE giveaway, we can protect these gears from the sand in which we plan on burying this rig

It is very important to note the direction you place the diffs in the pumpkins. The Wraith Manual is very clear on how to place them:

Once the diff covers are on the axle, you can't tell which direction the gears are going, so we marked the rear axle with a silver sharpie:

Because we are going to run in sand, we wanted to seal the axles, some silicone should do the job nicely. Once we screw on the diff cover and the silicone dries, we can clean up any extra silicone for a clean look.

For the front axle, AXIAL hooked us up with some aftermarket hop-ups - aluminum C-Hubs and aluminum Knuckles. These will be able to take quite a beating from the rough desert terrain For the rear we are using the plastic lock-outs that come with the kit. I must say the Universals for this thing look and feel very Beefy, they certainly made a nice clunk when I dumped them out of the bag onto the table

More to Come Soon!

This is what I have been waiting for, love building kits. I have a question though and have yet to get an answer. Are all the extras such as alloy knuckles, axle c's and bent links in the kit included or is that just for the folks who got the pre release kits???

Thanks and I look forward to more build pics

I believe that they are an added bonus for the people that got the pre release kits.

If you look on their site there is a comparison chart of the RTR and the Kit. They are not mentioned. The RTR does not include these parts so the ASSUMPTION is that do not come in the kit.

Lisa, you understand, you have just made the top of my "I really hate you because I'm green with envy" list...

What ESC/Motor are you going to run?

After you get done with your sand testing, send it up to me, I'll test it in wet weather for you.
