The easiest thing to do is go to the Hitech section of servo city, scroll down the list until you find the torqe you want then buy it. If it ever goes out they will repair it. Most of the time they do not ask questions but at the worst you are out $20 for a rebuild. As a bonus you can also get them on the phone.

The Wraith does not have a servo saver. It will destroy most affordable servos out there if you hit any small jumps or get in any binds. No way around it other than to step up to at least 333+. Any of the Hitec TG series should be great. I would go 7950 or better. I like to use a servo that will outlast the rig. Then I use it in my next rig. And the next rig. I have 4 5955 that are 5 years old and been in different 1/8 racers. Never a single problem. I run them off 2s lipo without a BEC or regulator. 8.4v for 5 years of racing is pretty reliable to me. |

I think I may pull the trigger on the HS5995TG myself. $70 for a 416 oz servo ain't bad! Anyone think this servo won't be able to handle the rigors of crawling with some bashing thrown into the mix as well?

ok got my hs 5585 in the mail today, mounted it up, pluged it in, turned it on and out came a horrific sounding screech. messed around with it a bit, worked great but makes a screech sound even when not under a load(just sitting there). if i move the tires a bit i can make it stop but as soon as i use the controller to turn it and let off and let center the screech is back. called Hitec support and they said it was normal for digital servos to make this noise. OK he makes the big bucks but this dont sound right to me. Every dog in the area goes crazy when i turn this on. can any of you shed some light on this? do digital servos make screeching sounds or do i need to call back and talk to another tech person?

I'm curious now. Just placed my order at Servo City for the HSR5995TG at the super awesome price of $69.95, but I know I could've gotten the HS7954SH on e-bay for about $8 more. Those of you that run the 7954SH....why would you choose it over the 5995TG? They both have essentially the same torque, with the 5995TG showing about 10-12 oz-in more @ 7.4V, but the 5995TG has titanium gears, whereas the 7954SH just has steel. So....what's the major difference other than the fact the the 7954SH shows that it can operate at only 4.8V? |

Hitec's website says the 7954SH operates up to 7.4 volts not just 4.8. Sent from my Lumia 900 using Board Express |

| Re: servo help please. The 5995TG operates up to 7.4V, too. The 7954SH operates as low as 4.8V, which is the only benefit I see at all. Seems the gears in the 5995TG are better and it yields better torque at high voltage.

Installed and tested my new HS-5995TG servo and it works great! Big difference from the stock futaba that came with my RTR. Just so it's clear to those that don't know, the stock futaba servo that came with my rtr wraith uses a 25 tooth servo horn while the Hitec uses a more standard 24 tooth style. So, since I didn't have a 24t horn on hand I simply used the one that came with the new HS-5995TG servo. Had to drill out the linkage mounting hole a bit and it's an ugly blue, but other than that, installing the replacement servo was a snap and boy does this servo have some torque... |

Did the 5995 from Servo City come with the blue aluminum servo arm? I have a 7954 on my XR and opted for the 5995 for the Wraith. Figure I'll just have to get some of those beefy servo arms that clamp on at some point |

Yes, it did come with the blue servo horn, but I don't know why you'd need anything more. Seems like it's probably pretty strong....certainly better than what comes on the stock servo with the RTR. I did have to drill out the mounting hole for the links, though.

Yes, I was surprised when I saw it and glad it was included since all I had were futaba 25t servo arms I had on hand for the stock servo. |

I have the blue one on my XR10 and bent it, but it's working well. I read several places that the 5995 is a 180 degrees travel out of the box. I think the 7954 said that too, but I swear that my 7954 only goes 90 degrees. Either way, now I'll need a BEC to turn up the juice to 7.4v.

I must be really unlucky, cause I stripped three separate Hitec 7954's in four packs. The smallest gear in them, next to the motor pinion, is half metal, half plastic. Hitec calls it "MK" for metal karbonite. All I know, is it doesn't last in a Wraith. Not dissing Hitec, I still run a 7954 in my AX-10, but the extra speed and weight of the Wraith destroys the gears in no time. Now sporting a Savox 2270, and it glitched like crazy with a Novak Havoc ESC, but it works fine with a Castle MM Pro. In both cases the servo was powered directly from a Castle BEC set at 7.8 volts. The Savox seems to have slightly less holding power than the Hitec, but at least the gears are still intact after about fifteen packs. Even with the endpoints set properly I have to torque check the servo mounting screws every couple packs cause of how much the servo reefs on them. I'd really like to see pics of a 7980 crammed into the front of a Wraith. And isn't Hitec supposed to be releasing some new brushless servos like last year or so? The suicide style steering with two drag links puts extra strain on the servo because the tires are pushing on the servo in mutliple directions as obstacles are encountered. Anyone running a Savox 1283? I like the full aluminum case and am wondering how it performs? I've split a couple of the stock blue Hitec horns after drilling the hole out to 3mm and abusing them. I'll only run Robitronics horns now. |

Yeah, I'll be ditching the suicide steering set-up shortly. But for now, I'd rather rock that than the stock stuff. If the stock tie rod and drag link are anything like the stock links, I'd kill them in 2-3 packs.
