Thanks for making this thread, Harley. It has helped me plan the mods for my new Wraith.

Quick question though. I know you said Slick 50 and Rock Lube were some of your favorites, but what would you recommend for extremely wet and dirty conditions?

I've read good things about Hudy Super Diff Grease and Hudy Bearing Grease. They are silicone-based and advertise to provide great protection in wet conditions.

Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks for your time!

Packing the axles full with Slick 50 is my preferred method for running in water.

I finally added the information on the BUSHINGS I recommend for the pinion shaft at the axle.

Best mod to keep the axles alive under big power.

Harley, I did the pinion bushing mod on my daughter's rig as well as mine, with the exception I only replaced the inner bearing with a bushing. I was thinking if I kept the rubber sealed bearing on the outside, it might offer some protection from the elements. I only have a few packs on the rigs to see if there's a difference. I don't think I'll ever need to replace them in my daughter's rig, only running a 35t on 2S. Mine will be a little different, ROC 412 3100 on 3S most of the time.

I don't see the need on hers like you said. On yours I would replace both though, just in case. The rubber shield is only keeping elements out of the bearings themselves, not from getting down into the axle.

I think I'm gonna swap the outer bearing out, I'm having a clicking issue in the front under braking. I noticed some play when I wiggled the pinion/driveshaft.

Hallo Harley,

about diff lockers in your first post you listed the "Lockers: Hot Racing - Hot Racing Axial SCX10 AX10 Wraith Unibody SHD Differential Lock"
since your post is older than the release of the new VP's lockers, do you still suggest the HR's ones or the VP's are better?
or are there any alternatives you recommend?

I read somewhere that some guys had issues with the VP's while tightening the 2 internal screws to retain the shafts, resulting in some flex on the shafts and the bearings...

What should I get in your opinion?

thanks a lot

I should go update that with the VP option.

I run the VP's personally and have never had an issue. I do believe some people have had problems when using other shafts but I can't say I remember 100%. I very much like the VP's lockers and will continue to run them in whatever I can.

Harley, which is stronger the vanquish vvd's or the super300's? I want to put a pro 4 into my wraith and a rx8, but I want to not have to worry about snapping a axle.

I am not sure, the 300's have a larger pin so they are probably stronger. I really don't know though, I haven't owned the 300 HD's. I've never broken my VVD'S.
