Default Cage mod help?

Hello.

I want to do this mod.

http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/attac...0-p1000519.jpg

What are the aluminium links called? I know the other parts are rods ends. Also what size would they be?

Kind regards

Do this instead, don't need to buy any link parts. Had to bend and heat a little more to get it where it's best. I like it! Definitely a spot to take your time with.
Now to mount my spare tire!

Got the down tube notched perfectly and the attaching screw head is nice and flush wiht the other tube. Used a 3x18mm self-tapper left over from my kit.

Natedog do you have more pics of your Wraith and how about a write-up on this mod? I want to cut the back of my one Wraith but not sure which method to go with. I like yours but how did you notch where the tube comes down? It looks great from what I see. I am very afraid to mess with the back but have the Jeep Rubi body to mount and want it to look more like a Jeep than the old Wraith.

If you wave a lighter back and forth over the area where you want the plastic to bend it bends quite easily. Just bend a little past where you want it to stop and hold it there a minute till the plastic cools and it'll flex back a little bit but should roughly be where you want it to be. Also, don't keep the lighter in one place very long or the plastic will start to bubble and burn.

I used a 106mm 30 degree bent link from an AX10 link kit I had in my garage. I ground down the ugly green down with my table sander and then used a slightly longer link end on one end to make up the extra length needed for the bent part in the link. Definitely a fun project, and makes a world of a difference in appearance and body clearance. I zipped my spare on the back and it hasnt moved, plus it covers up the empty space of the battery tray.

Heres a shot of my brothers..

I like the link mod but it always has bugged me how they are inboard from everything else. My solution, no links, cutting re using the chopped pieces:

It's dark and i don't feel like trying to get good lighting. Maybe tomorrow. I'll try to explain. Meh here's a lousy paint drawing that hopefully makes sense. Cut the verticle bar so it supports the diagnol bar, once you get all the pieces in front of you you will understand how to notch them so they fit together at the top.
