| Recon Wraith Build
Haven't done much with this rig since I got it RTR last year, figured it was time to start the transformation! So far I have installed an RX8, Pro4 3300kV with 1/8" motor shaft and Spektrum RX. I think it came out pretty good and everything is pretty well hidden already. I plan to make some black lexan pieces to hide the electronics front and rear. TSL Super Swampers. I was definitely some work to pack all that stuff in there! I have no idea how/if I'm going to be able to get a winch in there somewhere. I signed up for the G6 challenge at Axialfest, I'm pretty sure I will need one...Hopefully I can figure something out before then! Also have a new steering/drag link coming and aluminum 4-link truss for the rear. |

I just got this one running a few minutes ago, very happy with the speed and slow crawling torque/smoothness. I swapped my servo out for a Savox 1256TG and wired it to my LiPo, don't want to cram an ex-BEC in the already stuffed space.

How do you like the RX8 back there? Does it fit snug, how did you mount or install it there? I put mine in the front where the RX box is at. and then got a radio shack prodject box and stuck that in back.

It fit really well, but I have to run the wires over the heatsink through the shroud and wrap them underneath but it came out pretty good. I have two zip ties holding it in by the top of the shroud and I'm going to add a brace underneath it for extra support.

Yeah, now I just have to figure out how to cram it all under the hood. So far it isn't playing very nice, I'm going to have to get brave and start cutting some things..

We'll see what I can come up with for a way to mount the servo winch in there. I know what I need to do, just have trouble actually doing it haha. EDIT: Well, being pressed for time I went ahead and ordered the CKRC front battery/winch servo mount plate. Should be here quick-like! Last edited by Ty@Tekin; 06-13-2012 at 03:02 PM. | |

Well I nutted up last night and busted out the hack saw.... Got plenty of room to cram wiring in my electronics box. Perfect spot for a huge spare tire. PL faux Warn winch, I think this is about where it will end up. I'll go back and clean up my cuts on the cage, smooth them over so it doesn't look hacked. Then I just need to figure out a way to mount my fairlead, install the CKRC plate when it arrives and put this thing back together! Body panels are in paint, going to be simple and kind of look like my EXO: She's coming together! What's the saying, "If it weren't for the last minute, nothing would ever get done." True dat. |

| Re: Recon Wraith Build Yeah the vinyl I picked up is super easy to work with, all it needs is a little heat! I put a Tekin sticker underneath so it would have an embossed effect when I put the new one on. I'm hoping to have this rig wrapped up this weekend so I can test it out before I leave!

Looking good Ty! I did a thread about which universals or CVDs to get for the Wraith and pretty much the Axial universals were the best bang for your buck. Yeah you should upgrade your drive shafts too if you haven't already. Love the cut chassis with the spare tire setup.
