Default Motor getting hot

Since stock at 20/80 Gearing I have switch the spur gear to 93t and to 18t 48 pitch the motor is still getting really hot and top speed is around 6 miles an hour not expecting it to be fast but I was looking for less heat on the motor this does not seem to be the case any suggestions would be great

Thanks
Eric

What motor are you using. I think 14/87 is the best from what I have been told.

Best and cheapest way I found to get more power and more speed is a Traxxas 21t 550 emaxx motor on 3S lipo.. I use a Castle BEC and my stock speed controller. 3300 mAh Turnigy nanotec Lipos and the cheap traxxas motor.. geared with 32 pitch gears, 13/60 (which is about 20/90 in 48 pitch gears).. Faster than stock and WAYYYYY more power... PLUS... it stays Cool.. an hour of torture and it barely hits 110°f

i bet it goes faster in reverse. wraiths for whatever reason have the motor going the opposite direction to normal and some of the RTR versions had the diffs put in backwards. do you have your forward/reverse channel inverted on your controler? if that was the first thing you had to do when you got the the car out of the box to make it go the right way, then flip your diff centers.

if i'm not wrong the Traxxas 21t 550 emaxx motor is available in two versions, CW and CCW

switch to sensored brushless. If you have any questions go to ZNO-RC.com and look up our phone number in the contact us section. Give us a call, we have quite a few wraiths in our area, and we have solved this problem before

I run into a similar issue. I'm running the 27t stock motor (opposed to the 20t that came with it) and I have the 32 pitch gears with 12/56 and it's getting a little hot for me on 2s. I do have a 1000kv brushless sensored motor sitting on my bench, but no sensored esc to run with it
