I might swap out the carbon steering rack for the stock aluminum one or Axial's hard anodized rack. Will have to see how it handles abuse. Think the area where the toe links mount to the rack might be a weak point. I'll keep the stock steering rack in the field box.
I didnt like the beefeness of either one. I fabbed one out of 1/8 steel using just the middle mounting hole.

I have a STRC graphite one sitting here if you want it for a spare.

Overall the STRC stuff fits nicely IMHO..

I'd buy that from you. I'm going for weight watchers on my exo build.

It's going to do something, just as soon as I get it finished.

What it's going to do has me a bit curious/anxious.

Made a bit of progress today. Finally got the Robinson Racing gears installed and I bolted the Pro4 in place (with the 1/8" shaft) so I can sort out cabling between the RX8 and the Pro4. Might need to extend the sensor harness.

Awesome progress on this thing!

My EXO might just end up under the knife due to your build....

That's for lights and winch. Packaging everything will be a challenge so I went ahead and put that battery there.

Do it!

We're finally in a house - that means I can finally start working on this thing.

A little progress tonight.

First I put a carbide trim bit in the router lift and cleaned up where I cut the chassis with a hacksaw. If you're wondering WHY I would need to clean that up, you can see the definition of a hacksaw here, but I'll be nice and copy/paste.

Quote:
Hacksaw: One of a family of cutting tools built on the Ouija board principle. It transforms human energy into a crooked, unpredictable motion, and the more you attempt to influence its course, the more dismal your future becomes.
After that cut was cleaned up I put a carbide 45 degree chamfer bit in the router and cut the three rear edges.

Countersunk the mounting holes for the transmission

Looks like it was made that way.

Now I need to drill the other four mounting holes to secure the Exo aluminum plate to the Wraith plate.

Thanks, man.

I hope to make progress on this thing today.

The Stig still needs his lower legs grafted in. Need to get on that and let them cure so I can get him in primer and see what areas will need more work.

Also hope to get the rolling chassis completely buttoned up. Need to clearance the STRC front chassis brace for the Wraith driveshaft and drill/countersink the four mounting holes to bolt the Exo chassis plate to the Wraith skid.

I ordered a C.L.A.W v2 winch for it. I wanted a scale version of a Warn 9.0 RC and after a little red paint and some decals it'll fit the requirements just fine.

Got a little work done.

Drilled through the Wraith skid in four places so I could secure the Exo chassis plate to it with something other than the four transmission mounting screws.

On the bottom I countersunk the four holes.

Back on top I recessed the nylocks and cut off the front upper link mounts.

Also got some 56/14 32p gears installed as well as some TakeOff Ti motor screws with little aluminum heat sinks. Transmission has Robinson internals, and a SuperShafty Bomb-Proof top shaft is on the way. Debating a VP case.

Trimmed the STRC Exo front chassis brace to clear the front driveshaft.

Do you plan to switch to mip driveshafts? The stockers may be unhappy

i agree. with that esc/motor combo with such big tires, your going to twist those on the first drive. looks great though.

With the SuperShafty top shaft, Are you keeping the spur gear or going to Robinson steel slipper ? Just wondering if one can get away not using Robinson steel spur. What brand spur are you using ?

Will have to see when it arrives. If I have to go with the Robinson for some-odd reason, I will.

I was linked this build thread when I innocently asked if it might be possible to graft a EXO IFS into a Wraith. After reading all 14 pages, I can't think of a compliment that would do t iany justice, so kindly accept this offering-

Now after seeing all of this, my mind keeps flashing me some foggy images of a scratch built rig, someone in the PNW build a IFS rig for the MSD scale Nats, I can (vaguely) remember ToyoFast filming it as it sank into a bottomless pool of water on the TTC course. Hopefully you guys are setting a new 'standard' that a capable rig doesn't need to have a solid front axle to work well.

Working on the driver tonight.

Finally cut the legs from the wrestler dude and trimmed the RC4WD driver's stumps so I could fit the wrestler's lower legs in place. Now it's time to epoxy the legs together and then get to work with Milliput and the Dremel.
