Thanks. The winch was expensive compared to the RC4WD or 3Racing units, but - just like the tires - I wanted the scale look first then performance. This is the only one that I could get that resembled the Warn 9.0 RC, so that's what I went with. It's fine on 6V. Not anything crazy like the QuickSand on 11.1, but it works.

I like driving more than winching anyway.

Got it reassembled so I can lay out electronics packaging and where/how I'm going to run all the cabling.

I've got:
Futaba RX
RX8 (motor and sensor wires)
Castle BEC Pro
Castle BEC (x2)
C.L.A.W. winch controller
3Racing controller (rear lights)
MadDogRC rock lights
MadDogRC dual Exo light bar
MadDogRC 1" front light bar
Steering servo (x2)
Stig's head servo (with MPI reversing Y-harness)
Console mounted switches
Main Li-Po pack
3-cell Li-Po for lights/winch

Get all that crap sorted out and I can start making it look scale.

Reassembled with the winch mount/light bar in place. Getting anxious to go out and run this thing.

Have you thought of putting the rear shocks on the links instead of in the axle??

That will truly make it a Trophy Truck!!

No, because I'm not building a trophy truck.

It says Ultra4 in the thread title.

The attention to detail on this thing is awesome, I wish I has your patience.

I think I built my Terra-Wraith in a weekend

Do you plan to get the VVD's when they are released?

Thanks, man.

I could've had it running the day I cut it in half, but that wasn't the plan.

I'd like to get the VP universals for the Wraith rear axle as well as the Exo front. Will have to see.

J, do you need warn stickers ? I think have few BOWTIE warn sheets still.

Are you adding sway bars ?

I think one of the local guys has some Warn decals for me.

Regarding the sway bar, I've got one in the rear.

I'll have to see about the front. I doubt I'll need/want one up front.

2 of guys here have 13.5t motors one on 3s and other 4s in their wraiths. They barely controlable. That pro 4 motor is nuts too, barely controlable too.

What gearing? I can't get mine to crawl very well. Either a stutter or just will no go slow. Lol

Sorry for the hijack.

you know, most ultra4 guys do run their shocks on the links in the rear, just because it works way better in the desert and doesnt work half bad in the rocks.

That'd give me a crapload of travel.

I'll keep them where they are. Don't really want to make rear links.

Been messing around a bit with this thing. Mostly sanding the Stig so I can get him somewhat finished and in primer.

Got to thinking, though. I'm building an Ultra4 rig so I should have someone riding shotgun. I had overlooked that up to this point. Time to find/make a co-driver.

Eric,

I'll likely run regular stuff (crawling) on 2S, but I have a nice 3S pack on the way so I can open up the tap when I feel like it.

Sounds like a good plan, keep everything happy.

Thanks.

Made random progress on this thing. I wanted to get all of the electronics packaging sorted out but the SuperShafty top shaft is a hair longer than the stocker which is interfering with my battery placement. So far this is the only thing I've committed to placing. Been banging my head on the table trying to sort things out.

Got some decals on the winch. They're not 9.0 RC decals, but they're good enough to add a little detail.

Also been sanding/shaping the Stig. Made progress on Terry Funk's legs so they're more Stig-like.

this thing look great, cant wait to see it finished.

on the hubs have you thought about sanding the face flat except for four bolts so it looks like a drive flange. the full floating hub is cool but i thing the drive flange would fit the look of the rig better.

This is the look I want.

I got the hubs from Locked Up that function as the wheel nuts (not covers) and I have to torque them down with the tool. This is more than I cranked down on the covers, so I hope after I mod them they're still strong enough to withstand the torque I'll be putting on them.

What I plan on doing is masking/spraying the hubs and doing what I can to make them look close to the Solid drive flanges. They won't be 100% accurate to the Solid units, but when viewed with the rest of the rig, they'll be close enough. I've asked around looking for someone to make some Solid drive flange wheel nuts, but nobody has stepped up yet.

No kiddin'! I'm anxious to get it wrapped up, but if I just wanted to run it, I could have done so a long time ago. I want it to look scale and it's those details that I dwell on. If I'm not happy with it, it won't get finished.

I'll have to get a picture of the rear suspension with the wheel/tire off.

It just won't work to put the lower shock mount on the link unless I stretch the wheelbase and push the rear axle back - and that's not happening.
