CFM parts arrived today so I'll have to get to work installing them at some point. Between the rear axle housing and the new links from Axial, I'll end up completely tearing down the rear end. Wish I had the hardened ring and pinions here so I could get them installed at the same time. Also, I realized I have Windows Live Movie Maker on my laptop so I'm messing around with video. Took the rig out to test ESC settings and get more wheel time in with this swivel camera. I'll get that video imported and work with it a bit. I can slow the video to .125x so it will be interesting to see how the suspension acts when you can slow down the video and pay attention to what's going on. Will have to get another action video up later today. |

Yup, made it here pretty quick too. Messing around in the garage with this thing while ribs are on the smoker. Want to get panels done tonight so I can ship them out so they can be put into templates for skins to be made. Another short video is uploading. Spent some time adjusting the ESC and getting used to how the swivel mount behaves. I slowed down the footage so it's easier to see what's going on with the suspension - something I wanted to do to see if it's working the way I want. I'll post the video when it's done uploading/processing. |

Test #2 Passenger's side cage pulled loose where it was pinned. I hadn't glued the pieces together yet. After gluing and installing the bracing I've got cut to go in, that won't happen again. from Jason Carter on Vimeo. Last edited by JasonInAugusta; 09-06-2012 at 10:52 PM. |

I'm sorting it out. Thinking I might pick up some aluminum tube or 3/4" pine for the boom. The PVC flexes and bounces. Will have to see if it bugs me or not later. Much happier with the ESC settings now. Just need to get back to cramming that mess of wiring in it. |

It's starting to come together. Installed Axial's machined aluminum upper and lower links. Used part AX80057(1) on each end of the links with 3x18 setscrews. Also got the MIPs installed in the rear. Installed the Carter Fab and Machine centered AR60. Aside from cutting the shafts to fit the axle, it's a bolt-in affair. Up front I got the MIPs installed and put in Axial's machined, hard anodized steering rack. Rear shaft after less than six minutes of run time. Also swapped out some hardware. Used the original hub screws from the RC4WD Hitmans to replace a few screws here and there. Last edited by JasonInAugusta; 09-08-2012 at 06:09 AM. |

Axle looks good under there. I added extra scale hardware to the empty holes on my knuckles, and replaced the diff cover screws also. Those little things really change the looks quick an easy. Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose |

thats awesome. if you are going for that "completely scale" look, i would be interested in seeing you run those new rc4wd dual spring king shocks. they are new, have a bigger diamiter, and are oil filled. thats sounds like a pretty good shock to me, and it would look great on your rig.

Got some RC4WD brake discs. They're for the 1.9s and have 5-hole spacing, I'll have to re-drill them the 6-hole 2.2 wheels and find a way to mount the calipers on the STRC knuckles. Extruded aluminum should do it. |

| Re: JIA's IFS Ultra4 build That's the type of crap that happens when I find myself in the garage after 1am. Not too big of a deal, at least I didn't mod them all...because I broke my 3mm tap messing with those things. :doublefacepalm: I should really get more sleep. 6-hole units are on the way. In other news... Servos arrived. Went with Hitec's 7980TH front and rear. 1222 oz./in. of coreless, titanium-geared, unapologetic brute force. Just need to make them fit. Chris, young_version asked if they came with the Hitec shoehorn. Told him I already have that tool. Hopefully I can put it to better use than I did messing around with those freakin' discs. |
