Finally got the transmission set up. Put an Axial servo to use with an Axial aluminum servo arm.

Yeah, the AX2 from RC4WD. Fits these rigs perfect, especially considering the dual-purpose aspect of a rig like this.

Yeah, no problems with fit. No sharp edges.

Front suspension is wrapped up.

I bought the McMaster versions after buying the RC4WD version, and the McMaster were worse. You can use an o-ring on one side of the ball to tighten them up. Also make them look like Johnny Joints.

These are the RC4WD units. I dug through the bag of them at the hobby shop and got the best of the bunch. They're not perfect, but it's not going to have a huge effect on this rig. I wanted them for the scale look. I'll take a little hit in performance to make it look good. It may sound silly, but I want the IFS to stand out on this rig. That's why I went with silver arms instead of RPM's black units.

Also, caster and toe changes as the Exo suspension cycles, so a slight bit of movement in the ball isn't a concern. It's still going to go where I point it.

While we're talking IFS, here are three of the rigs I've built in action this past weekend. Also in the video are my blue SA Ultra4 and Badger's Wraith.

Rear suspension is done.

And the completed front. Weird how the camera distorted this a bit.

They have a lower CG, are more stable in off-camber situations, descend better than a Wraith, and they're insanely stable at speed.

I'm happy with how they do.

That makes 4 of us.

They even work with 3 shocks. Had a shock shaft pull out of the rodend on the driver side rear while we were playing on a step-up jump before hitting the trail. Started & finished just fine.

The rear sway kept it in check.

So with this 2 speed you say you dont use/need a drag brake.. so do you think a VXL would work because low gear is geared so low. I know it is not sensored but...it geared low. Do you know if anyone has tried this trans sensorless?

VXL sucks ass. I would not recommend it to anyone.

I found for pure crawling, you'll want some drag brake. For everything else, it's not so necessary.

I wouldn't use a VXL in this.

This. If you're going to do nothing but crawl you'll want a little. If you plan on going fast across open terrain then getting through the rocks (race style) you'll want the drag brake off.

Sensored is nice for the super smooth response just off neutral. Much better when crawling no matter what gearing you're running.
