I love the all-business stance that it has, hope the suspension works properly. :lol:


I'm enjoying being able to relax and build something my way. Been the first time in a LONG time I've been able/wanted to do so.

I've decided to build ONE rig this time around. It's a fuggin' expensive build too! :shock: Not enjoying that part of it. :lol:


I've had some questions about lighting, and how the brakes work.

I'm using two kits, a G.T. Racing LED kit and a 3Racing LED kit.

Pics of set-up/instructions for those that need it.

I'm using the 3Racing kit for the rear lights, that's how I'm getting brake function. I could also have left/right turn indicators if I want.

The G.T. kit has 12 sockets and you can program all 12 to be on any time the unit has power. I'm using this for the front lights since the 3Racing kit won't power all nine forward-facing lights and the four rear lights.

I'd love to have the MadDogRC/Chino dual Exo bar up top, but I'll wait for now. Need motor/servos first. If I go to the Dual Exo light bar I could get away with using only the 3Racing LED kit.

Made a battery mount from recycled Wraith parts.

Cut a section out of the Wraith steering link, center drilled it, and trimmed down the Wraith battery tray to make battery install/removal easier. Also had to cut off one of the loops for the battery straps so the arm on the steering servo would clear.

Ha-ha! Nice work. Have you ran it yet? If so, how do you like it? Worth it or no?

I'll get a picture of how I trimmed the Wraith bumper later. Camera is put away right now and battery is on charge.

No doubt. When I first started back into this stuff in May I kept telling DTP and young_version about how I want to build an Ultra4 car with the front from an Exo. I even downloaded the manuals and started thinking about how I could make it happen. Kept saying I'd wait until we got a house so I would have my tools on hand and have a decent place to work.

Then, for whatever reason, I started tearing the Exo apart and the next thing I knew I had picked up a cheap hack saw. :lol: I made one cut with that hack saw. :roll: Everything else has been Sharpie and Dremel work.

But soon I'll be able to get back into familiar territory. :mrgreen:

I didn't had to drive it yet a part of the steering is missing. When I bought the extra Exo kit it was because of my poor driving abilities. :oops: I distroyed the front left of the Exo in a crash.:cry:

I'm waiting for parts to come soon and I will test drive then.:twisted:

Here, how it is, waiting for that steering link and if you cut your bottom plate just a tad longer you will be alble to use the 94 mm dog bone for the front drive shaft. You can see it in the second pic.

Yeah, I initially had the dogbone in place but went with the Wraith shafts because I knew I'd be going to MIP shafts later. Better to do fitment once.

Big feet, I never thought about that. Might do it.

DoubleJ, it's two washers. One countersunk, one cone. Drill hole, put washers on opposite sides, tighten the screw and nut. Done.


Oh, here's the pics of the trimmed bumper and how it mounts. Just mark and cut the Wraith bumper so it will mount on the upper hinged/shock-absorbing front Exo skid mount. Then grab some longer screws and bolt it in.

Had some clearance issues with the rear sway bar and the servo arm.

Bent a new sway out of 3/32" stainless. Stainless wasn't my first choice, but it's all the LHS had in the size I needed. I'll make a new sway when they get regular stuff back in stock.

Ground flats on each end for the lever arm setscrews and stuck it in place. Flats are ground so the arms/sway are level at full droop.

Here's the "stock" flex with no grinding to soften the thing. Also, the little butane torch I picked up to make the bends.

Keep the build pictures coming! Nice detailed build.

I too have been inspired and bought up a wraith chassis and exo kit. I'll be running a truck body of some kind with a centered rear wraith axle.

JIA, did you have to use wideners to get the wheels to clear the ExoTerra knuckles? Can you take a picture or two showing the clearance between the wheel and the knuckle?

These wheels don't fit. I need wideners due to offset. Right now there are just a couple of threads holding the front wheels on.

Are you worried about the overall width once wideners are used? About how wide do you expect it to be once you're finished?

I believe the technical term is "wider than a maf*****a"

A little wider than it is right now. :lol:

I don't have much to measure with, but 8-10mm per side should work. Just need proper hexes and barrel nuts.

I'll probably pick up some VP OMF 2.2s when they're ready. That will allow the use of VP's hub system to fine tune things.

If I can't get what I want between now and the 22nd in aluminum, I'll run the Integy wheels I have here. THOSE fawkin' things make it wide.

With the RC4WD Predators (pictured above) knuckle clearance is the only issue up front.

Does anyone make some thin beadlock rings for the RC4WD wheels? I can't remember.
