That's most of the equation, you'll still need some crosspins.

What is it that you don't enjoy about locked diffs? Ever since my 1/8MT days the despise of open, eventually leaky diffs making them eventually unpredictable is still alive and well. Locked diffs are forever predictable and turning radii can be tremendously helped with a few tricks.

axial used to make open differentials in the RTR ax10s. find a set of those and add some of this stuff into the diffs with the spider gears. i used to use this stuff in my slash, its tune-able by stuffing more or less of it into the diff, enough of it will lock it up. it's also thick enough that it won't leak out.

well i am a racer at heart, and am useto the diffs in my sc trucks. it seems that when i am turning it wants to rip the front tire off the rim . but thats on my concrete driveway, don't notice it much in the grass. and it also may have a little to do with my steering servo ( spectrum with .08 speed at 6v and 160 oz in. torque) so its a realy fast digital servo. i guess i'm just not useto the lockers, and its a little different than expected. this is my first crawler that im trying to turn into a non crawler and handel/perform somewhat like my racer.

That's really good info. And alot better of an option than trying to piece together the old ax10 rtr baja buzzard thing's front diff.

Try a stronger servo perhaps, not totally understanding the issue. But, a racer it'll never be Embrace the fact that your wraith will go where an sc truck can never make it.

4600 is going to be way to tall for the wraith. Most of run 3300. I know you like racing and all but still.... you won't be happy with it at all. To me torque is more important than horse power.

Yes and better to use a motor with more torque and gear up than the other way around. The Wraith would be fun with open diffs with some really thick oil in them, but I'll keep my spools for crawling thanks.

just ordered up some exo diffs fr & rr should be here mon. or tues. i will let you guys know how differently it handels. also flipped bottom shock/link mount over fr & rr. also flipped top rear shock mount to lower cog. now it doesn't roll over as much when cornering at medium speed. also changed gearing to 24t pinion and still using 52t spur, don't think you could get a bigger pinion gear in there with that spur. but its alot faster now. just need a little more speed and i would be happy.

If you're using the stock drive shafts, check the temp of the joints.

I have a 7.5t 19pinion on stock spur and after some wot off road eventually the rear driveshaft uni-joint got hot and "sheared" off from the plastic shaft.

I figure mostly 'cause of the angle the universal joint is at + the speed = too much heat for plastic. Yea! extra parts!

In another thread someone said the "Wheely King" diffs work but I can't get the HPI site to cooperate to see if they have better oil sealing then the axial diffs

These are what I used.

HPI Firestorm 10T diff gearsets Part # HPI86917

you need O-rings for under the sun gears. Search "Wraith open diffs"

It will not hold silicon oil if you run universals due to the flat spot where the shaft goes into the cup.

If you want to run oil, you have to run dogbones and output cups. That sucks...

I used grease when I did run them. The thickest grease you can find. It free wheels way too easy. Sucks when on 3 wheels crawling. I've heard of people using Silly Putty from Wal-mart.

I have since gone back to running locker front and back. I like to climb stuff and open gears just suck total ass for that.

I also run the 3300 pro4.. didn't think it was too fast, just insanely torquey.. more kv could be good if you don't crawl.

Also... the diff cups suck crap. The cross pins the spider gears are on chew into the cups. Once it does that, they tend to lock up randomly at speed. I looked into metal cups but didn't find anything worthwhile.
