I stripped a gear from a spektrum servo, I plan on upgrading to a Hitec 7955. Don't ask why I had a spektrum in the first place.

I haven't installed everything yet, but I picked up a new set of R35 Ripsaws, Integy 5 spoke beadlocks, Savox SC-1268SG servo and a CC BEC. Anyone know if I actually need the BEC with this servo? It sounds like I can run the positive and negitive wire right to the servo. It says it can be ran of a unregulated Lipo. I'm running a 2S lipo....specs below.

This is the Savox SC-1268SG High Torque Steel Gear Digital Servo (High Voltage). Savox have now released their 'High Voltage' servo line that can be powered by a unregulated LiPo battery! These servos also feature a redesigned motor/controller unit, and use a 'bullet proof' all steel gear set for unmatched strength.

Features:

•Combines leading edge technology with super high 12 bit (4096) resolution.
•Higher performance due to increased voltage and improved technology
•Incredible torque
•Increased transit speed
•Increased efficiency
•Water resistant with 4 silicon seals implanted
•Strong and precise-made steel gears
•Suitable for 1/8th nitro racing and large scale aircraft, 600 and 700 class helicopters.

It's wise to run a BEC with that servo so you can regulate power to it. You'll likely want to program the BEC to output to 7.0V-7.4V to get the maximum amount of torque out of the servo. I know it says you can run it unregulated, but certainly not a chance I'd want to take with an expensive servo.

I think most here will tell you a simple rule of thumb regarding BEC's.

If you have a crawler............

......you need a BEC.

I Cut the rear of my cage off today and made some new rear cage links out of 1/4" tubing and revo rod ends. I also added some styrene diamond plate upper shock area covers. Ohh yeah ordered the rubicon body, dinky cargo tub, hr steel spools and axial hub covers! Good day

Replaced my STRC knuckles, C-hubs, lower shock mounts and rear lockouts with VP knuckles, C-hubs, lower shock mounts and rear lockouts. Mounted my new VP SLW V3 (Ripsaw tires with C.I. Double Deuce 5.25 foams) on my Wraith.

After replacing and installing the VP stuff today, the quality of VP's parts is unmatched! Everything fit and went together like silk! Once again, hats off to the guys at VP!!!
