............Unlimited AR60............with new Chaotic Chassis. So I dont usually do build threads but I figured I would post this one up and see what we can come up with. The idea for this truck came to me from running my Super this past season. When we run the Supers at our local comps everyone loves watching them and always comment on the rear steer and how amazing the rigs are. Well as most of us know moa Supers are pretty expensive to build and I feel that is a BIG reason there arent too many of them. I wanted to come up with an INexpensive way for guys to have a rig similar to our supers without breaking the bank. What I decided to do was convert my Wraith over to an "Unlimted AR60". I am actually thinking we could have a class just for these rigs that LOTS of guys could afford to build. I see it as a 13" to 16" class. (Allowing stock length Wraiths to compete as well) Here is what I have done so far...... Unbolted the Wraith cage from the skid and upper shock mounts: http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...h/ae4dafaf.jpg Bought a pack of Jato ends and changed out the upper and lower link ends. Wheelbase just over 13.5" before: http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...h/9be10bf5.jpg After Jato ends appx 15.5" http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...h/2df28881.jpg While I had the tranny out I threw the axial dig kit on it http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...h/686ed1ba.jpg Got with Nick and Marc from Chaotic Crawlers and they designed a chassis for me. They had a few KILLER ideas for a chassis but I explained my #1 goal was to keep the rigs affordable and I would prefer to keep the stock skid intact so it would be an easy convert for anyone. Here is what they came up with. http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...h/31defd79.jpg Got the chassis in the mail yesterday and started to do the assembly. Everything went together very simply and fit was perfect. http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...h/008358c6.jpg So far the only thing I had to do was drill a new rear mount hole as the dig I installed got into the rear cross brace and I had to leave the center support out as it hits the trans. Keep in mind they cut this for me per my dimensions and its just a prototype right now. They also drilled holes for the upper links but I am going to run it with them mounted to the stock wraith mounts on the skid for now and see how it does with the stock links. (keeping with the cheap theme) http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...h/f728fd96.jpg http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...h/2ce742e2.jpg http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...h/aeb41f6f.jpg I threw my super tires on it just for now but I have some ideas for other wheels and tires in mind. Not quite as tall as these. http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...h/e43049d7.jpg Of course I will have rear steer as well as the dig. Here is a list of some parts I used so far: HH Brxl 13T Crawlmaster Chaotic Crawlers upper links, tie rod and drag link VP lower links (with Jato ends) VP tie rod and drag link for rear Hitec 7980 front servo Hitec 7950 rear servo Xr10 Shocks w/gold springs BWD motor plate Felsenfest lockers F&R Axial underdrive rear gears http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...h/6aa2b1b5.jpg So basically I took my Wraith that I had already rtr and bought the jato ends and the chassis to get to this point. I will be on the hunt for the wheels and tires I have been picturing and my buddy Hardknockz has a body in the works for me. I believe it will be something unexpected."thumbsup" |

Re: ............Unlimited AR60............with new Chaotic Chassis. Glad to see you got it going. Those tires make that thing look tiny. I think a 6.5" tire would work well on that setup. We are looking forward to seeing how this pans out. Thank you for the opportunity to help you out. "thumbsup" Marc |
