| Diesel's cookie-cutter plastic truck i finally caved in and bought one. picked up a kit version from TLTRyan here on RCC. its pretty much stock right now, ive got a few things i plan on doing to it but nothing crazy, yet. i basically just want a rig that is always ready to go. not half built, not ready except for one thing, not an unfinished mess like most of my scale rigs... i already cut the front bumper and i plan on cutting the back of the cage before i even wire it up, that'll be tomorrow. anyway onto some pics, because this thread is useless without them. just happens that my wraith batteries showed up the same day the wraith did. turnigy 2200 40C 3s. cut out a little plate, slap on some velcro and i'll be good to go. its got 32p gears in it, not sure if thats stock or not, don't think so. it was mine for almost an hour before disassembly, lol! sorry for the shitty iPhone photos, we've got a scale comp here in vegas on sunday, ill get some better ones then. (thanks DoubleJ for the logo haha!!) Last edited by dieselfuel; 06-28-2012 at 10:34 PM. |

might as well include some of my plans... Mayhem Engineering Monster EX wheels keeping the R35 ripsaws, i like them aluminum Chubs and knuckles some kind of lowering kit, gotta research that... modifying the roof maybe some kind of cool Holmes brushed motor lights better shocks gotta add some steel to this thing, the plastic is too soft a different hood and set of panels, ive got plenty of .025" aluminum, i should try it myself. i guess that's it for now. |

Nice Scott, cant wait to see what you come up with Just buy some Losi Crawler shocks, they will get you as low as you want to go and 10 times better than the stockers...Two birds one stone I want to run the Mayhem Monsters too but I dont want to wait a month to get them I think ill end up giving in... |

i figured. wonder what my ratio is, i don't feel like taking it all back apart to find out right now. ok so i went out to the garage today after work and started in on this thing. i couldn't leave a couple things alone, even for its first drive. i cut the sides off the front bumper as mentioned in the original post, flipped the rear shock mount, added a brace between the rear shock mounts because the battery tray is in the scrap pile and cut the rear end of the cage. nothing revolutionary, just the typical cut job. i like it. used axial rod ends and scrap from the material that i cut off. trimmed down the mounting surfaces on the cage and bolted it all back together. links are nice and flat, this is with no weight in it at all right now. | |

So I went over to DoubleJ's house yesterday and made an electronics plate for the receiver, esc/bec and battery. I've got all the electronics under the hood so I've got some good weight bias right now. Between that and flipping the rear shock mount I've got the thing sitting right where I want it, ride height wise. Time for some scale details in the back. Not quite 3min in my front yard, dead. I really like the hand wound 35t in this thing. Gotta get a better trans output to run maxx shafts in this truck. |

Hey bro good to see you have a wraith. It's a moster. I highly recommend a pro4 3300...it studio fun. I also run the max shafts and no issues. Or for a money saver in my other wraith I let the kids run (minus the pro4) I have a piece of solid rod like ou braze with inside the stock shaft glued. Works pretty well. No issues.

Cool, I'll take a look and see if I can bolt up the ones I have here. Not sure I'm gonna go quite that fast with this rig. I'm not very good with fast RCs and I don't wanna sink a lot of $$ into this thing. |

| Re: Diesel's cookie-cutter plastic truck Went to reinforce some spare WB8 driveshafts last night. I measured again last night and need 0.228" od CF tube for inside the male driveshaft peice, cut to length and just CA them in. Don't forget to put the screw down inside the shaft first LOL. Now I have to return the CF I bought and get right size. 0.228" CF rod, cut with Dremel and CA inside the shaft from the aircraft section at LHS. (wear dust mask when cutting CF)...working great on my Wraith with 3s, TItan 21T, geared 14/56 32 pitch. Last edited by Natedog; 01-01-2013 at 11:01 PM. |
