Terra-Wraith now with MIP mod

2 Attachment(s)
Or.. How to eff up a perfectly good Exo :ror:

Well My boy's 1.9 Wraith needed to be disassembled and cleaned and I needed a project.. Im not a big go fast guy.. Soooo.. How about a 2.2 exo Wraith IFS/IRS.. Why not!! Ill post pics here as it goes.

I got the EXO on a trade and it had the axial CVD's front and rear so Ill see if they'll hold up to some torque. The stock direct drive set-up does'nt have enough gear reduction so in goes an axial tranny. Ill be using Maxx shafts and spooling the f/r diffs.

Got a little done today:

The rails Ill use to attach the Wraith frame and a bunch of deleted exo crap..

Well, I got the steering sorted out. When the plastic tub sides are removed the steering post mounts have to be fabbed. I also made another steering rack 'cause the stock one did'nt quite work and it was flemsy as hell.. The new rack is 1/8 steel.

I still have alot of work to do..

Got the diffs locked old school style and the Wraith frame mounted to the Exo chassis plate. I still need to work on f/r bulkhead braces and trans upgrades & driveshafts..

I've been waiting for someone to do this project. I think before the Terra came out some folks were putting the Slash 4x4 front and rear end on the Wraith tube frame. Can't wait to see the stance when you get further along.

Thanks!

I think these kinds of builds are rare 'cause the exo is so damn expensive.

The more I work on it the more I like it. I may throw my pro4 system at it and use it as my primary rig. Im just waiting on parts now so I can get er done!

I think they are also rare because every build I've seen where someone recommends an IRS people get all upset. Some times you just have to build it for the sake of building it :D

True, I don't expect any kind of performance advantage by using IFS/IRS. Im well aware of their downfalls. I'm just trying to break the same ole Wraith mold and I thought it would be a fun build.

Fabbed a brace for the front bulkhead/steering posts. When the tranny and driveshafts are in I'll run a big turnbuckle from the fabbed brace to the chassis plate to properly brace the front end.

Yeah, you've made some really nice progress. Any thoughts on what motor you're going to run? I'm guessing the Pro4 based on your sig.

The wraith I originally parted out to build this had a 45t on 2s. But, I dont see that combo doing this thing any justice. It'll probably end up with the pro4 3300 on 3s.

Got the drivetrain in place. The rear shaft was a little too long so I trimmed it. Bad idea... I did'nt know that the female end was'nt splined all the way through so after the trim I ended up with about 1/16th on spline engagement. So... I figured the length and welded it

The roller is about done. I got the front and rear diffs braced and added aluminum c's, knuckles and steering rack. Also 4mm turnbuckles w/ revo rodends. Im ready to start work on the Wraith topper.
