Arrow Jyri's Wraith 4WDS

Hi to all,
This is my first post here, the story of another Wraith...
First bit background; I got my first real RC almost 30 years ago, it was Tamiyas Buggy, after that I have had several cars, helicopters, planes, boats and now it was time to try the crawlers. Somehow I ran into Axials cars and was first going to get EXO, but the I realized that what I really wanted was more of crawler than buggy, just to be able to run it anywhere, so I ended up buying Wraith and got a kit, since I always want to build my RC myself.

Ordered mine from England and it arrived just in time to take it with me to summer cottage, I wanted to have something to do besides be eaten by mosquitos ;)

My setup at the moment is:
Axial Wraith kit
Mamba Max Pro
Orion Vortex Crawler BLS Brushless sensored 21.5T motor
Spectrum DX3S (w telemetrics installed)
SAVÖX SC-1268SG
3S 2200 mAh Lipos 30C

Here are pictures from my build

Pretty much stock at the moment, except the battery in front, planning to move the ESC as well to front. I have also ordered Ti links for steering and upper and lower links. Thinking of 4WS or 2 speed. I do like the Spectrum telemetrics, I can see the motor temp and RPM from my transmitter.

Here is video from first run, my first with iMovie, so excuse me if it isn't any better.

nice with the battery and cable sleeves. I found the plastic steering links to be...well not to be. Also i recomend better shocks, the plastic ones are not fun at all. I lost 2 shock cups first time out lol. Alum links are a nice change. Did u glue those ripsaws to the stock rims? I used beadlocks so i could change the tires later. Nice paint job!

Very nice and cleanly done. I agree the stock plastic shocks are a problem. Mine leaked so I rebuilt them 3 times only to have them leak after a couple of runs each time. I went with Axial shocks part# AX30092. They are working great, but there are many options for shocks.

Nice build. Have you thought about putting a driver in?
If you only need the hinges, I have about 90 extra in Finland.

I will definitely put driver, just haven't had time to find the one I like.

Thanks for the hinge offer, but having second thoughts at the moment, most likely, will use just 4 pins as a second step.

Planning 4WS and wondering why o why didn't I thought that when I made my last order

Time for a new receiver box and more space for the Lipo, even 6400mAh might fit...

Thanks, today I received my hopup parts...Boy it was difficult to get the ChaoticCrawler Ti links right, must have tried every possible combination at least twice and still some binding on the links, it seems that the rods are not correctly bent. Vanquish CMS was bit tricky as well, but in the end all seems to be ready for tomorrows run.

How do you like the Gmade dampers? I put the softest springs on mine to get it less bouncy.

Just had quick run in sand pit, seems to be on hard side, not sure tough what the normal springs are, could try softer ones...

I bought the softer ones from Junfac (green). And I also put the softer piston in the damper when I assembled them, that helped a bit.

Ok, it was fun day at the sandpit, the upgrades definitely made huge change, if not otherwise, I ripped tooth out of two servo horns , seriously the steering was so much sharper, like different car. Have to see if I should go with aluminium horns or would that just mean that I'll spend time changing gears on my steering servo instead of horns?

Some pictures and movie from today:

Short clip from today's driving at the sandpit, some serious fun.

Since I broke yesterday two servo horns, I thought that I would use the one that came with Savöx, well, it didn't quite work that way.

The Savox Horn was way too short and thin and didn't feel like to do any mods for that, so I thought what if I would do something else, and boy did it get out of control...

First I thought to lift the shocks, well...

Didn't get too much visible done, mainly finishing the cut marks on the tubing, planning the LED cabling, changed the receiver box opening from top for easier access.

ESC is now relocated to be underneath of interior.

I like what you've done with it. The rear shocks should have been angled a bit more forward to soften the rear suspension. I did that to mine with great results.
