That is the coolest rear steer lockout I have ever seen. "thumbsup"

Thank you kind sir. I can't believe how much more I like the look of it over the plain rear end.

Rear axle is done, again. Got the tie rods built and everything adjusted and buttoned up.

http://i484.photobucket.com/albums/r...2D5B00864D.jpgI made VP rotors work on TSS wheels without drilling the wheels. No I will not tell you how. It's my secret until someone else figures it out for them self. Hahahahaha(evil laugh)
Really wasn't that hard and only took a little over a minute a piece to do.

Alright you suspension gurus, I've got a dilemma and need some help.
I don't have much experience with 3 link setups 1:1 or scale, and I'm getting a lot of axle movement side to side during cycle. From what I understand, the upper axle link needs to be more parallel with the lowers so as not to fight the pan hard. Right now the upper link is angled towards the center of the axle. The suspension is setup nearly identical to when it was on the Wraith chassis so that's why I'm a little lost here. I don't remember if I have front end pics posted, but I can get the rig put back together and get a pic if need be.
The pan hard is pretty close to same angle as the drag link.

Clay some might disagree but the movement is coming from the panhard and yes you will get sway from it.
The fixed point for side to side movement is based on the panhard. I try to set up the panhard locations as equal as I can from right to left. In otherwords the axle mounting point is the same distance on the side as the frame mount is away from the frame, make sense?

If you look at a Hand kit they have done pretty much the same. However you do it you will always get a lateral movement when compressing the chassis vertically it's the nature of the 3 links paths. I've done heavily angled and almost 90d to the axle and not seen any measurable difference or feel

Oh and the main reason to align the servo and panhard is so that you don't get bumpsteer when you are cycling the suspension. If they are not aligned as the suspension compresses the 2 links (steering and Panhard) travel in different arcs due to being longer or shorter.

Re: W.O.D. inspired family 4 seater buggy, "Southern Comfort" by CFM

Yes, side to side movement should not be caused by your upper link being in the center of the housing. The more angle your trackbar (panhard) has from flat, the more side to side shift of the axle.

Long and flat makes the best track bar geometry and gives the least axle shift. But to minimize bump steer it should be parallel and equal length to the drag link.

Thanks guys. Slapped it together so I could look at it and take a couple of pics.
I believe I need a longer servo arm and maybe move the pan hard bar chassis mount mount farther to the driver side. Maybe bought a 1/2 inch so it's in front of the shock?

Yea, that's a really bad angle on the steering and the trackbar so you are going to see lots of axle shift.

I like to put my trackbar frame mount right at my pitman arm pivot but that wouldn't be good for you.

If there is any way to move that steering servo down it would only help you. Can you move the tie rod to the top of the steering arms and put the drag link on top of that? That would cut down on some drag link angle.
Do what you can to make it look like War Pig's and it will work better.

Moved tie rod above axle and no more bump steer. It's the obvious things that blowing sometimes. Duh!!
Guess now I'll move the pan hard mount further out like Tim's and see of I can eliminate some side movement.

What about a bent panhard bar? Then you could get the mount higher. Moving it out like you are explaining and then higher should get you close to perfect angles.

Hey now! Sometimes I get a little tired and have a senior moment.
Funny thing is, Clay pointed my mistake out, but still couldnt figure out his. Hehe

I would of eventually fingered it out. :)

Yeah yeah!!
My rig was in pieces. Made sense when I put it back together and actually saw it all together.
Just one of those things that as soon as you say it out loud or ask for help, it appears obvious. I just couldn't think past everything I'm trying to finish and all the customer work I'm doing. Lines got blurred.
What do y'all think about this color. It's the tint I used on the rear roof panels. I'm not gonna do all the panels solid with it but kind of like it.
http://i484.photobucket.com/albums/r...0697CE436A.jpg
Was originally going to leave all the panels bare but that was kind of boring.

I'm gonna start with the mount. Of that doesn't get me there I'll keeps omg forward. Seems like its just to short. Angles are fixed just need to address the other now. I'll get there just impatient, would rather be building more cool stuff like the rear ram and swapping out tires.
And before you say anything Grizz, I'm bolting up a set of iroks I got from Tim. I know, hypocrite, but it's my only scale option right now.

What'rya doing, building a monster truck? Hehe

Thos big fat IROKs are gonna look sick on that big buggy. "thumbsup"

The blue looks good. If yer gonna not gonna paint the tube work a contrasting color you gotta do something with the panels. And that blue looks good with the shocks.

CarterFab 08-30-2012 05:31 PM

Hate to admit it, got the rears mounted right now and like the width on them. Really helps offset the height. I'm not gonna give you the pleasure of saying I love them though but they may be staying on here.
I still want my scale 5.5-5.625 though.
I pray to 8lbs 6oz baby Jesus every night for Bias TSLs

Was thinking a baby blue for the chassis originally but now thinking the darker blue like the dash and rear steer tie rods. Dont want 5 different shades of blue going on and the darker will also help tie the seats in a little more I think.

I vote a dark blue to make the blue of the dash POP!

Thinking something simple and mild like this. Be cool if I could have the brand name decals die cut out of the same stuff. Like the Interco bird, W.O.D. logo, Griffin, PSC, and the Carter Fab & Machine script logo and CFM logo. Any suggestions?
