I still have more to go and I'm already probably 10 hours into styrene at this point. I still have the rear section to do and a little more detail on this front section. You truly don't realize how much goes into the builds that are making bodies from scratch or extreme detail like Norm has been throwing down lately until you get your fingers all sticky and the room smelling like tenax and activator. That's better. It would be fun to sit in with an experienced styrene guy and just go back and forth on procedures and tricks of the trade. Really brings back my love for building the static models from my younger days. My problem is I start getting excited and rush things, like paint. Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose |

| Very cool. I Avnet seen anyone else do that before. This buggy won't need them being a family rig and all. I was gonna get started on the rear interior but seeing the servo was bugging me so I had to address that before I could move on. I think I got pretty close to the 1:1 on this part and they both rock Griffins. Inner fenders will cover the rest. Carter Fab & Machine: Hand Made Customs |

Got some more work done today. Built the rest of the interior for the rear, just waiting on seat, built the fuel cell, and made me a small ice chest. Carter Fab & Machine: Hand Made Customs |

Appreciate all the positive remarks. Got some more done tonight. Installed the titanium shafts in the rear. Ready to replace the HC with VP Got the side panels fitted and through the rest on to see how it looks. Still have to drill and tap 2 more spots to hold the lexan piece down and get the hood area modded. I'm also flirting with the idea of engine turning a portion of the sides and using the tint to add some design to them. Probably do a bigger test panel to better get an idea. I also added some much needed detail to the diff cover while it was off(still need to do the front). Next up is mocking up all the electronics and mounting front lights, then the engine cage and a couple under support pieces to mount electronics tray, then stripped back down for paint and final assembly. | Thanks very much I made a mockup engine cage with some styrene so I could get the hood cut. Gonna be a busy weekend with customers 1:1 build, customer panel orders, setting up my new shop for CFM R/C division, and working on this. That just made me tired. Carter Fab & Machine: Hand Made Customs |

Busy in this economy is a really good thing. Going to bed tired is way better than going to bed worried. |

| I'm trying, never made it out to the shop this weekend to do any welding. Ordered some more stuff and waiting for VP to release the lockers and hope that I get a set before they go out of stock. Ready to shed a little weight and get something a little more precise holding things together. Also trying to figure out what to do about battery size. I have several 1000mah 3s here and they are easily concealed under the hood. I can run 4s but don't have any and don't think it will be worth it. Need to get online and get some dimensions of what else will fit without going to big(weight). I can fit my 5000mah 3s but it's heavy and has to go in front, only down fall to the 4 seater is that it all has to go up front. Right now the rig is @ 8lbs with the small battery and dressed out. Good thing is that most the weight is in the axles and transmission/motor. Down low. Also put titanium shafts in the rear and getting rid of the Highland Crawlers lockers will shed some more weight. I've always been a 3s guy too. I'll be volting up in the TTC for a couple of the events. If the 5k fits send it for KOL and call it good for now. I usually run 2200's in most of my C3's due to the draw and then the " I can make that line" after the comp stuff that pops up. KOL is first to finish and not so much about crawl that uber bitchin line. Last KOH event we had everyone was politely waiting in line at a big winch climb. There was room for a nearly vertical winch pull so I pulled cable and went up, chuckling to myself why are they all waiting.... Last edited by Difuser; 08-20-2012 at 02:36 PM. |

If it makes the trip out, only disadvantage I see is the speed. It's not slow, but the guys with these massive brushless motors are crazy. My truck is built bulletproof for that kind of power but just wouldn't use it around here. I'm gonna hide the electronics in a "watertight" box also under the hood. Man I hate water and mud!!! And I do hope you know I am giving you a bunch of shit here. We all want to ship $3k rigs across the country to strangers..... Seriously if it does come out I am glad to make it a shelf queen for pics on the rocks or "drive it like a stranger sent it to me in KOL".... Speed is good but 1/2 the field is old and smokes so....Oh sorry that's just Devlin. It really is about drive the course and make all the time (speed)you can in some areas. The rest just think smarter than the rest. Either way I think I am going to be chatting with you about my C3 FJ coming up after Nats. |
