VP AX10 tranny case in a Wraith - rear output shaft

Ok, before I get beat down, I did use the search. Been searching and reading for the last hour. I'm a little confused about putting the VP AX10 tranny case in my Wraith.

I'm a little confused about using the stock outdrives on the AX10 case. I do understand that the VP AX10 case is shorter in the rear.
I'm running MIP driveshafts on my rig.

Here's my confusion... So, if I run the VP Hurtz Dig with the VP AX10 case (which I'm planning to do anyway), I will not have to get an extended rear output shaft, correct? The VP dig will extend the rear output shaft so it's long enough.
And, my MIP driveshafts will fit correctly and work with no mods, correct?
I also read that I will have to add a bearing in the VP case. What is the bearing size I will need to add, and where does it go in the VP case?

Harley, could use your expertise on this.

I know this has been asked one way or another, through several posts. Just getting mixed info when I searched. That's why I asked again.

You have an Axial Wraith manual? The AX-10 tranny uses the same output bearing on each side. The Wraith tranny uses 1 of that same size on the *short* side of the output. You'll just need a 2nd one of that size.

Download the pdf's from the wraith and ax10 to compare exploded views.

On the ax/scx tranny, identical bearings are used on both sides of the outputs.

I'll take a look at my wraith manual to find the bearing size.

I'm still a little confused about the MIP wraith specific driveshafts fitting the rear output shaft, out of the vp dig. Can you guys shed any light on that?
From the pics of the dig on vp's website, there doesn't look to be a hole cross drilled on the vp dig output shaft for the driveshaft pin.
Also, is the vp dig output shaft the same size as the I.D. of the MIP yoke?

The mip wraith dshafts are different from the ax10 in only the hub aspect. Ax10 hubs are threaded for m4 with an id of 5mm. Wraith hubs are approx. 5mm longer, threaded m3 and an id of 5mm. On the mip site is a cross reference chart for part numbers of different models.

The single flat of the dig output shouldn't be an issue, single flat outputs/inputs were used on the ax10 for years. If it is an issue, add another flat with another opposing screw/set screw.

So, all I would need to do is replace the 3mm threaded pin on the yoke with a 3mm set screw, to screw down on the flat of the dig output shaft, correct?

M3 set or button/cap, yes.

I prefer short cap heads for the torque down ability, not pretty but a 2.5mm drive vs. 1.5mm is nicer any day.

Yep, I agree. Even if I were paranoid about the whole set screw on the flat thing, I could probably drill that output shaft to accept the threaded pin from the MIP shafts. Just a thought...
If you're saying the set screw and flat hasn't been a problem on the AX10, I'll go that route.

Do you know off hand, what the length of the cap screw needs to be? I want to see if I have it, or if I need to get some.

Or double flat the output with opposing capheads.

Over a year ago I grabbed a metric shat ton of the longest m3 fully threaded capheads and nuts from mcmaster, chopping them down to the size needed. Not even close to running out.

Ok... I've got a ton of longer 3mm cap head screws myself. I'll probably do what you did and cut some shorter.

I appreciate the help. I agree that's what a forum is for. There's a lot of people on here that doesn't think the same way.
