Default Case182's Wraith build up - Learning to Crawl.

Whats up guys!

I've been lurking here for about a week now. Read a ton of builds and had to run out yesterday and pick up a Wraith.

Im new to crawlers (coming from drifting and SC trucks) so I have a lot to learn.

Please excuse the iPhone photos for now...

Here she is out of the box:

Took her out for a short drive around the trails here and noticed something with the front left wheel while steering...

The screw in the top of the steering knuckle keeps popping out. Wont tighten either. First upgrade apparently will be aluminum steering parts.

Any suggestions on brands? I was looking at Vanquish, Integy, and STRC. They all seem to be around the same price so that doesn't really matter.

Also thinking about getting a LED light bar for the top and going with 4 wheel steer eventually.

I have many upgrades from Vanquish. I have not swapped out all stock plastic parts. I installed many when I built my Wraith due to Harley's build. I am 100% happy with the performance of the Vanquish parts with no issues. I will not use anything but Vanquish for my Wraith in the future when I replace or upgrade stock plastic parts. I also recommend Holmes Hobbies motors and ESC.

The Wraith beginners guide is great, even for seasoned experts.

For a quick and good fix, I like to fill the hole with thick CA and use a tooth pick to smear it along the sides. When it dries, run a small drill back through to clean it up and clearance the hole (it will usually be too filled in to stick the screw back in). Then tighten the screw into it. If you want to be sure it's super tight. Drop a tiny drop of CA down in the hole and then screw the screw in. This will make it nice and tight and you can still remove the screw later.

I can't remember who told me that trick on here, but it's worked.

Ended up finding some extra HPI turnbuckles.

Fits perfectly for the time being.

Couldn't get that picture to focus to save my life.

Ended up running down to the local HS. Picked up a few parts to replace some plastic. I'll have pictures up ASAP.

I have tons of them where I live. Just need to go out and decide which ones are RC worthy. Everything I bought is from Vanquish aside from the Axial universal axles.

Replacing the C-hubs was one of the first upgrades I made to Wraith. I went with Vanquish, but I hear a lot of good things about STRC from other users. STRC is considerably cheaper too.

Anyone have problems fitting bearings into the Vanquish knuckles? I cant seem to get them to fit all the way into them.

Nvm figured it out. Having another problem though. Got the Vanquish C cups, knuckles, tie rod, and drag link installed... But I have alot of positive camber and toe in now. Is this normal?

The problem:

So what'd I do wrong here? One wheel seems fine while the other has massive toe in and positive camber

You should try adjusting the rod ends on your steering link.
I left mine with about a 1/4 inch of thread showing.

Nope. They are correct. Longer fatter part on the bottom.

Eded up solving the problem... mounted the chubs one "tooth" off I guess you could call it. You can see it in the picture above. Took it off and put it back on and its fine.... lol. Still has a bit of toe in, but showing a bit of thread will fix that. Thanks for the for info though guys.
