I had a Holmes Torquemaster Expert 27t that I abused one day (chipped a brush on a bad roll then ran it through a bunch of dirty water / mud) and it was not in good shape....and I kept running it after that too. Needless to say it needed some work. I rebuilt it with a 35t Br00d arm, Trinity XXX silver brushes and man this combo is mean. It will literally bunny hop on high traction surfaces!

Breaking in:

Mounted up some new Vanquish SLW V2's and Crawler Innovations Double Deuce's with my TSL's. I'm liking this wheel as it is one of the closest to what I'm currently running on my 1:1

Then I started mocking up my rock lights. I think it need some diffused LED's. The ones I have now are super bright, but the spot beam looks silly!

I'm using a 3 Position 3rd Channel 2 Circuit HeyOK controller for my lights. It is working awesome! You toggle each circuit with opposite directions on the 3rd channel. Here is a short video of me cycling the two different circuits on.

I'm happy with how its coming along, still have a few more things to do though. I'm going to get some ballistic nylon fabric and make a bikini top soon.

Did some more work on the rock lights tonight as my diffused LED's came in. I went with 4 diffused on each rocker and 2 spots + 2 diffused up front.

I mocked all my brackets in some lexan scraps I had laying around, I will go get some aluminum sheet and finalize it this weekend.

Lots of pictures incoming!

I also had a couple new servos inbound as my S9157 was acting up. I bought a slightly use BLS157HV and then in a hurry bought a new one that would ship faster. I like having spares so I'm ok with that!

I proceeded to set my BEC @ 7.4 and all I can say is HOLY SH** now thats a servo!

Got a chance to finish the wiring and test out the rock lights tonight. Pretty happy with the results, now just to finalize the brackets in aluminum.

Here a couple sequences going no lights to driving lights to driving & rock lights:

(Pictures are crap since they were taken with a cell phone in the dark.

Nice work on the rock lights! Ill probably shamelessly copy your setup at some point. I wasnt a fan of the jeep body until i saw how your truck turned out, it looks great

Btw have your beads stayed in those wheels? I have the exact same setup and for the life of me couldnt get the beads seated right. I am considering building a BL wheel clamp tool like others have done since i really want to put the swampers on the VP wheels

Thanks!

Copy away, here are my LED's I have used on the whole truck:

Amazon.com: Joe Knows Electronics 5mm Clear White LED (25 Pack) HQ Series: Electronics

microtivity IL053 5mm Diffused White LED (Pack of 25) - Amazon.com

Joe Knows Electronics 5mm Clear Red LED (25 Pack) HQ Series: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific

I am running them all off 6v from the BR-XL through the HeyOK switch. My whites are all in series pairs as they like 3v and the tail lights are wired in parallel and each has a 200omh 1/4W resistor as the red likes 2v.

As for the beads, I haven't really had a problem with them. The way I mount mine is to lay the ring on the tire, put all the screws in just barely, at that point i push the bead in towards the hub and down. You can feel it "snap" free and if you look from the inside they will kind of pop into place. This method has worked great for me so far.

What I am having problems with is getting these 5.5 Double Deuces to straighten out. I understand that the wobbling doesn't affect anything at trail speeds but it is driving me CRAZY! I get them straight by massaging them into place, then I go run the truck and they get all out of whack again.... almost feel like switching back to the stock foams.

Thanks for the led light parts breakdown, great info!
I havent had my foams move around much but ive only ran my truck for an hour or so. The foams are STUFFED into the tire so im not sure if mine will move much or not, but i can see why it would be annoying!

Well I went back to the stock ProLine foams. I know the CI foams are supposed to perform so much better, but as I just do this for fun and the CI foams were annoying the sh** out of me well....

The stock foams, while overly squishy, centered right up and no more wobbles

So after a couple weekends out with some scalers, and a failed attempt to trade off the Jeep Wraith I decided I would order some more stuff for it!

Put some DMG bumper braces in as I'm on my 3rd set of braces.

I narrowed it up with some 225 hubs. It's tight but it really enhances what scale-ish appearance there is. Drove it for a little while and all seems well, we will see this weekend when I take it out.

Put some brake disks on:

Painted my BGR sliders flat black:

And went back to a trimmed stock bumper. I love the BGR stuff and it has taken a beating, but it is rather large. I have been working with BGR on a new front and a rear bumper but I think the ball is in my court on some pictures for him and I just haven't gotten around to it.

Mamba Max Pro / Tekin Redline 13.5 / 32p Gears / HR Lockers / HD Overdrive & MIP's in the mail now. Looking forward to the extra get up and go, but this rig has spent a lot of time in the water so that has to stop.

I finally found my tire / foam setup after trying out TONS of different combos.

I'm really liking this setup.... ProLine TSL's (Vented with 4 holes) & Dos Piezas foams.

Sidehilling is much better and the rears aren't collapsing on steep rock climbs any more.

Did you every have any success with star cutting the foams? In the process of collecting parts for my wraith build, looking for any tips or tricks. Thanks
