The blue tape is holding the BEC in place until the Goop dries. Tonight I'll shorten an old Ti link into a drag link. Then on to some body work after I get my new Holmes Hobbies pullers in my comp rig. Good stuff.

That grill is looking nice! I need to re-do my servo/bec wiring, really like your plugs idea. In addition to running power and ground straight from bec to servo, don't you run ground with the signal from servo to rx? That way it's all common grounded and less chance of glitch/weirdness?

I should have but I did not. That is the best way to do it. Trust me I do get some glitching when the rig is in the garage around all of that metal.

Thanks, that's what I thought. Swapping my HS7955TG to my 1.9 Honcho and installing HS7950TH to my Wraith and will re-do my bec at the same time.

That's a nice upgrade. You will like the performance improvement. 7.4V is a good dose of juice for your '50.

Default New Hood and Siped TSL's

After a month or so in the shop I finally got to drive the new suspension setup. Holy crap the rig handles so much better. Kyosho shocks with HPI and Losi springs work very well. I beat the crap out of it for a about three miles of rocky gulley climbs and had no failures other than a skid plate screw backing out. I just couldn't stand the chopped off shovel looking stock hood so I made my own. I like the stumpy, boxy look.

For some time I've wanted to sipe my TSL's. The central lug band pattern is way too dense. So I aired it out a little bit and man these tires have come alive. Significant improvement. Now if they were just 0.250" larger OD...like the Mickey Thompson Baja Claws. These will arrive soon and I'll sipe them too. Siping is always messy.

The tire on the right has the lug sectioning done with a dremmel and the tire on the left has the lug section removed (with scissors). I really like the pattern because they hook so much better. You can appreciate the new lug pattern more by looking at the driver tire in the articulation shot above (pic #2).

Well she's parked again until I make HD universal bushings sometime this week or so. They are totally shot. New ones will be a significant improvement over stock.

You don't happen to have plans for your servo mount do you?

Or the CF brace?

Why yes. I plan to drive the hell out of both of them.

Oh, if you're looking for tech. diagrams, that post-it note hit the trash a week or so ago. Sorry.

I figured you'd catch it hiding in one of my poorly lit photos. It's working great. The rod end that mates to it is not experiencing undue wear. But overall the front of my rig goes through Revo rod end.

I'm sure someone will produce one of my trinkets for sale. This happens from time to time.

So I finally got my hands on some MTBCs and boy they are tall and narrow, which I really like. They dwarf my Swampers.

Foam tuning will take some effort but I'm sure I'll find something that works. The compound is super soft and sticky. They will wear faster than my Swampers for sure but will provide better GC and grip. To improve grip I removed the alternating small inner lugs. See below for before, going and gone views.

As you can see the siping really helps them breathe. Once I get my HD bushings made I'll beat on these some. Foams first. More later.

the middle pic, switch the small inside lugs to large inside lugs, really woke mine up.

Oh, and run them backwards ;)

I thought about using that siping pattern for a second but then I realized that if I pulled the larger inner lugs, alternating rows would would be comprised solely of that tiny outer lug. Given the soft compound and expected shortened life, I wanted to open up the pattern without taking out too much material.

I will run them back'erds.

Cheers,

J

True, mine are 1.9 as well, but they work 100% better, and almost unstoppable on loose hill climbs now. They have worn pretty good, but they have had a hard life to
