This just means that you need to buy a second set of 7075 housings.

My fix would be much faster. JB weld! and a file to shape it would be my fix as I don't have the equipment to do that kind of work.

2 layers of this 7075 alum tape would fix that axle.

Thanks Gents. Coincidentally I used a little of both suggestions. Will post a bunch of pics tomorrow. Lots of cool stuff.

Default Mo' Nasty 7075 Axles!

I spent many hours this weekend working on a full axle rebuild. Hope to finish it up this week.

Let's start with what the old VP axles had become. I gotta give them props because they have served me well.

Just a little material missing on the front diff.

Oh yeah.

New, rear, front.

Front.

Blasted rear.

Both.

They will make nice art until they make nice parts.

On to some fun with my less than true set of SLW's. Warning, images may be disturbing.

Coping saw.

Bzzzzzzzzzzzing!

Hogged out.

After several years my old 7075 comp wheel discs have a new home! And I know I won't bend them.

Old Ironsides vs SLW

Road Warriors!

No I'm not running them like that.

Rear axles getting the 4 bolt lockout treatment from the get-go.

Tap that ass.

And now the fronts. No 4-bolt chubs due to Hysol from the get-go as well.

I'm trying some flush mount motor screw on the bell bellies to slow wear. Once the leading edge wears off they should not be an issue.

Front three-link mount looks much more at home now.

And now to prevent my driving from trashing the front axle in short order. Enter a plate of 0.125" shittyshittyone and some 50 grit.

Hysol y'all.

Minor stress cracks due to bending.

Serious road warriors. With time the edges will buff out and will be much lower profile. The edges of the plate will be pounded around the diff cover. Tonight I'll drill and tap several M2.5 screws from the inside of the diff cover to anchor the skid better. Might even tidy up the Hysol bead.

More later.

Nice spinny tools to make cool parts there.

I really like my AL VP wraith housings but it's a shame the C's have to be permantley mounted. Not a huge deal but is necessary. Mine have been epoxied on for almost a year now. Not sure what this "Hysol" is you speak of but i'll google it, as the kids say.

Thanks man.

The only downside of permanent chubs (which is the only way to go I agreee) is the inability to switch axles front to rear when the front case is trashed...or you can go to 4WS.

Default Overkill yet again.

I just couldn't leave well enough alone. I added 3x2.5M screws to my front diff skid. That should provide some shear force resistance.

Screws are positioned as such in order to avoid contact with the pinion.

Panhard link update tonight and then on to some cosmetic stuff.

Please enlighten me on your choice of shittyshittyone for the skid.

Edit: I'm guessing no one makes a 7075 cover? Not up to speed on my Wraith tech.

Heavenly75 don't bend...well. Especially at that thickness. I was too lazy to mill from billet. I will if this fails.

No one sells Heavenly75 anything for a Wraith.

This is soo cool. It gives me some motivation to go out and make my own parts stronger. Granted I dont have the equipment you do but the creativeness you are showing is motivation in its self! Im subscribing.

Etch a sketching that skid from solid would be quite a feat!

Yeah man,

I used to wear through lappers monthly.

That a Vision Gator? I had a teal and black one. My Alva Christian Hosio hammerhead was my favorite ramp deck.

I'll probably order a diff cover to have one spare when a rainy day hits and that block of primo 7075 in my billet box is calling my name.

Your wheels came out great.

Man I love this stuff.
