| SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith
I just couldn't resist any longer. I love go-fasts and with all the insane aftermarket offerings it was too much to resist. VP, you guys are artisans. Thanks Harley et. al. for all of the concise posts on how to make a Buck-Nasty Wraith with little effort and a little $. The first photo shows the bulk of it and here's my un-original, copy-cat, boiler-plate recipe: Everything VP makes in badarse grey SLW V2 0.7" (already had a pair so trick, scale beads will have to wait) Hitec 7950 CC-MMP ESC CC BEC Tekin 3300 sensored 5mm RPM gears Revo/RPM 8 mod spur/pinion TMaxx shafts ProLine Swampers w/ stock foams Crawler Innovations front output shaft BWD motor plate (in transit) Chaotic Crawlers 4 bend tie rog (in transit) Big Bores (modified) Max Amps 3S TBD Futaba 4PKS Axial HD gears (in transit) All Ti and 7075 hardware where applicable Berg steering bushings polished down for a super snug fit I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions for y'all and I thank you ahead of time. She'll evolve a lot after the build as I tune it and sick my machine skills on it. The drive-train will get first attention. Photos posted as I go. Enjoy. And yes, it'll be fluorescent yellow. I think you bought out the VP warehouse. Just so you know I'm coming over to see it in person. Good start so far. |

Nope, but I will give my liver some attention this weekend while I build. Did some tinkering last night. As expected the drivetrain needed love. The output shaft had about 0.010 lateral slop due to the gear pin on the output shaft sliding in and out of the pin slot. Oh, and the stock pins are poo. So, I made a new pin from a 0.0605 hardend steel pin guage, lathed and polished off the ridge on the pin side of the gear and ground some shims to take the place of the ridge and fill the additional gap. End result is the pin won't fail and can't slide in and out of the groove laterally. There is absolutely no lateral or rotational slop in the output shaft now. Next up, the slipper mechanism... J

No rear steer?!?! It's good practice for your upcoming super class build. |

Made a little progress this weekend. BWD motor plate arrived, really nice and worth twice the weight of stock. Bored the TMaxx universals to 0.199" to fit the trans/diffs. For reference I included a shot of various shafts (L to R), stock wraith, HD Slash 4x4, TMaxx and Revo. Finished the shocks and a shiny new 7950TH arrived from the gents at Hitech. I use this servo for all crawling and 1:8 applications. J

Looks like fun Joel. Curious as to why you decided on the tmaxx shafts rather than some MIP's? Del Monte Rock race on Oct 13th at Cougar if you can git er dun in time. |

Not that you haven't spent a boat load of cash already, but how strong are the stock differential gear sets? In for updates and finished rig |
