Amazing builds Jason. I'm still fairly new to this forum, but I've been reading your threads and I'm in awe of your work. Great stuff. Thanks so much for sharing. Steve |

Curious if you post a picture of how you pin the cage together and what adhesive you use. Thanks Jade

Jason The compression brace your talking about is the bar right behind where the seats would be? Imagine it would be to strengthen that lower joint right? |

Sorry, missed this. Yes, the compression brace is two pieces I modify and screw together. The bar behind the seats with the two bars that extend back and curve out to the shock mounts. I cut that guy down, run another bar across, and fishmouth the Wraith piece. Then mark the Exo piece for pass-through holes into the Wraith piece. Drill holes for 3mm self-tappers in the Wraith piece and use some button heads to bolt it together. *EDIT* See attached Last edited by JasonInAugusta; 02-26-2013 at 07:37 PM. |

I don't know how I missed this build. I'm certain my wraith will become a SA Ultra 4 now. |

I love the looks! Great job. My wraith is still stock and I have been looking at all the different chops that can be done to the back end and by far to me this is the best looking setup.

| Re: Solid axle Ultra4 build great builds sir. i am running with the IFS build myself just waiting on the trucks to arrive from the LHS and ebay. so i must ask this elec tray you fabed up does it hold the battery and reciever box as shown in the previouse pics? or are those underneath this tray? also could this tray fit in the IFS you did also? since i likw what you did with this tray and the rear bulkhead behind the seats. alsocould you post a link to the integy shocks i tried t find them but they make alot of shocks. thanks bob Last edited by dybbob; 03-06-2013 at 09:04 PM. This tray will work on the IFS rigs as well. I didn't use one on mine because there's just so much crammed into it I needed to use all available space. The local guys I built IFS rigs for have all used a front electronics tray. As for the shocks: Here are the Integy shocks I've been using. Type II Alloy Shock (2) for Axial AX10 Scorpion (L=126mm) for R/C or RC - Team Integy Hot Bodies also has some nice 123mm shocks that should work well. I haven't had a chance to put these on a rig and tune them, but from messing with them on the bench, the black springs are a bit too stiff for the rear. I'd look at going with either one or both of the softer silver springs. Hot Racing HA Black 123mm Double spring shock | |

Nice. I didn't have a chance to check out the silver springs. I was given a set of the HR shocks and they came with only the black springs installed. Let us know how they work out. |

I've found some 138mm venom creeper shocks on fleabay. I'm using a pair now, with the anodizing removed. They are ok, leak a very little. Good damping with 20wt oil. They may still be available at $20 for two pair. |

i posted this in your ifs thread but since you answered my earlier question figured i would try it here also. so may i ask what you used or your technique for centering the hole to drill for the pinthat holds the cage together? i have both trucks and im starting to tear the exo down and build what parts i need from the wraith kit and started thinking how did he center the pin in the cage sections? i know they make a jig for centering holes in round stock but im not sure if it woudwork on something this small in diameter. thanks again bob im going to try this?? http://www.grizzly.com/products/Center-Finder/D3098 Last edited by dybbob; 03-13-2013 at 04:50 PM. Picked up a Poison Spyder RTR body from Eddie at Crawler Innovations. I think it looks better on an Ultra 4 conversion. |

I've been drilling them by hand/eye. Start with a tiny bit in the Dremel and work up to 1/8". Rubiconrockcrawler made a drill guide for me, but it's ever so slightly off so I still usually drill by hand. Dremel has a drill bit set that starts at 1/32" and goes up from there. Starting with a small bit like the 1/32" helps you center the bit on the rod. It's amazing how your eye and brain work together to center objects like that. Just like looking through the iron sights on a M16. I have a nice Groz CS-2 center finder and I STILL eyeball it. | |
