Default Best shocks for Wraith? Big Bore or Powerstrokes?

As the title says what are the best shocks for Wraith and mainly crawling? I have Traxxas big bores, but I think I want to switch to some Proline Powerstrokes? What do you guys think?

I have been doing tons of research, Found that there is a split between Wraith owners.
Bashing(fast), guys are preferring a shorter lower COG, going with Slash powerstrokes front shocks all around. or using a lowering mount like the BGR mount or Level 3 racing lowering kit.

Trail riders and everyone else likes the 103mm length shocks. The powerstroke scaler shocks are not a huge improvement and have been said to be to small of bore to handle the weight and dampening needs of a loaded down wraith.

I am personally going with the Gmade XD piggybacks. They get great reviews and available in either the 103mm or the 93mm lenghts. The downfall of these shocks is that they have a little larger diameter body so the "true scale" crowd does not like the look. BUT the function is amazing.

I'm going with the 93mm gmade XD piggybacks for my build.

Long winded hopefully that sheds some light

What about running the Rear Powerstrokes for slash all the way around?

You can run Powerstroke fronts for a lower ride, and rears for a higher ride. I have the fronts and they are pretty awesome. However, I think the stock springs they come with are a little too stiff.

I run XXL Aluminum big bores with factory wraith kit springs. They sag down about half way at ride hight, and really help keep it planted on the side hills and climbs

XXL Big Bores all around work very well. Paired with Losi white springs and 30 wt oil they crawl and haul very well.

Added bonus with BBs is that they're the least expensive option, don't leak a drop, common Losi springs fit them, they're all aluminum (caps too) and you can get parts at almost any LHS.

Agree with this - that suspension "sag" is the proper way to get top performance, but I just don't see many trucks set up this way.

I was wondering if anyone has tried some of the larger bore short course shocks, like those from Team Associated or Team Losi..
Something like this.

TowerHobbies.com | Associated Shock Kit 13x30 Blue

or these

TowerHobbies.com | Associated Factory Team Shock Kit Hard 13x30

I happened into that spring / oil combo with my Losi comp crawler shocks & I agree it is about perfect (just enough droop on an 8# Wraith,) now I just gotta get some of those XXl Big Bores cause even upside down the damn things leak (I got them used so I will replace the cartridges & see if that helps.)

I like my big bores but I am getting too much body roll, I may try the Powerstroke rears all the way around and see what happens.

I'm running the RC4WD King shocks with the piggyback. At first I thought the springs were way to soft. But the more I ran it the better I liked it. Granted these shocks would be horrible for bashing, but I simply love them for crawling. And the scale look is sweet.

Powerstroke rears on all for corners for me. The ProLine spring tuning kit is a must for setting the sag correctly. Running 30 wt oil as well. No leaks and super smooth. I will get a set of Traxxas big bores for the next build just for comparison. When you guys say Losi white springs, is that in a spring tuning kit or just those springs only? A link or part number would be awesome. LHS had no clue what I meant when I said Losi white springs. Shocker

On the cheap use plastic Taxxas bigbores and drill them out and use the bigger 4mm Axial shaft and piston.

In the spring kit, what springs are you using? Same all around? In that case you need 2 kits?

If you use the same weight all around then yes, you will need two kits because one kit only comes with two of each spring weight. With my Wraith I was able to get away with one kit for all four corners because I am very front heavy and have trailing arms in the rear. I'm using blue/blue rear, and green/green in the front. She's dialed in perfect for my taste with about 40% static sag.
