| Re: What shocks you running? I went with he Ckrc drop kit. It's ok. Hardware is a little off but you can use the stock bolts to mount the shocks. Won't hurt. I'll get pictures up next week. Still waiting on the front shocks . Apparently they shipped separately

^ That's the kit that I got too. The front mounts are a real snug fit. I almost didn't think they would go on. But they do. It's a good idea to start threading each hole individually before trying to do both. I tried to set it up low with stiff coils for speed. But,I'm going back to crawler mode. |

Right now I have a set of internally and externally limited 134mm Integy's I got for free with an old crawler. When the funds permit I will be going with a set of the 110mm RC4WD kings.

This is my Integy 138mm Shocks. I orderd a pair for the front and rear. I have only received one set. I placed it on the rear with the drop kit. I still have to cut down the mounting bolts on the drop kit and the shock bolts. bare with me. I couldn't wait to see the difference it made so I mounted it up to check it out. and the rear articulation is way better. here is a before and after picture of the rear. new tires and rims and no body panels because they are being painted.

Man I can't wait to get my shocks and my drop kit in now. That is a huge difference. I'm sure when you get the front shocks on it will make that much more difference. What are your overall thoughts on quality of he Integy shocks?

I like them. I really don't know how to fill them with oil. I did it.. but im sure its wrong. I have no leaks and I think they are awesome! good price. perfect length. Also, when I had the stock shocks on my wraith with the drop kit I liked the height but the back axle would hit the chassis where the stock battery mount goes. but it doesn't do that anymore. the longer shocks overall is my favorite buy! Does anyone have a how-to for filling the shocks the right way?!? or a link please?

I don't Know the exact way to fill them but I took one of the stock shocks apart and it looked like the oil was just almost to the top. Shouldn't be much to it.

I run the G-Made Piggy Back with the soft green springs and 20wt silicone shock oil and no drop kit just flipped the factory shock mount over and moved electronics to rear and battery up front crawls like a Goat

Rob chinchilla- I extend the shock. Full it 3/4 full. Then cycle the shock slowly to let all air bubbles escape. Then I slowly fill the shock to the top. But, rather than filling it to overflowing, I just fill it till it barely comes up to the lip. These shocks aren't pressurized with gas like real shocks, so I don't know how exact you need to be. But, the idea is to keep air out. Air compresses easily, oil does not. If you seal it up with any air, the air will compress and lessen the dampening effect. |

I have been trashing the RTR shocks pretty good, so I picked up a set of four Venom 4020 135mm shocks for cheap on fleabay. (still available - $25 shipped for 4!) Im running the L3 droop kit, have yet to install the shocks. They came with two different spring rates, but I dont think the softer set is soft enough, so I will probably run losi 1.6 rate springs (white) with proline primary springs (the shorter spring.) Just took the hideous green anodizing off a pair last night and polished them We'll see how this goes. EDIT: installed the shocks in the rear. Significant articulation improvement with better crawl ability. I run the shocks at full droop - took the L3 droop kit OUT as it is ugly, served no purpose with this setup, and the hardware included with the kit is garbage. (The nylock nuts are so stiff, they break the cheap bolts before you even get close to tightening them. I probably wont buy any L3 stuff in the future.) I got my killer krawler shocks in today and I don't know what I was thinking. They are huge. The length would be fine At 130mm but they are really stiff and about as big around as a quarter. Needless to say they are going back and I will be going with something else. Might go cheap and get the Integy. But I don't know.

So it seems that everyone is sold out of the 138mm Integy shocks. How do you feel about the 148mm shocks. Will this be way to much and make it set way to high. What are your thoughts?

148mm is way too long unless you limit them to around 110 or so. The goal is to keep the CG low and not to have too much articulation. Being able to flex 90 degrees does not make it crawl any better. I think even set up stock out of the box the wraith is too high and flops around way too much. I run 103mm Gmade piggies with the CKRC lowering kit. I tried it with the lower link mounts flipped but it was just a little too low. Right now it's perfect. I mostly run high speed TTC stuff but all I have to do to crawl is disconnect the sway bars and I'm off. |
