impulse winch buy, rc4wd, custom bumper and winch pull test

been eyeing these winches for awhile on rc4wd thought they looked cool kinda like warn winch. i was in hobby store today and they had 2 of these in stock. so i offcourse bought then spent the afternoon reworking my bumper to fit it.

gota test it and see how well it works. i can tell you this the hardware is shitty to say the least. i was going to build my own mounting plate but the screws were stripped and couldnt take the packaged mounting plate off. also noticed the heads are stripped in the screws hold the winch together. one cool thing is it seems it may be plug and play and comes with a spare motor when this one wears out.

ill see if i can get a vid of the winch draging this up hill

Re: impulse winch buy

no controler. plugs into reciever and runs off a 3rd channel. i just tested it on my steering channel.

this winch also has wireless remote so all it needs is reciever power or tapped in with a y harness somewhere. i think the wireless remote one was 50 bucks or 55.

i just tested it and i bet it works like 8000lb winch. i tested it on pretty steep incline, vid is loading
i enlarged the hook with carbide burr so it would clear 3/16 wich is what my bumper is made of.

looks a lil weak. ive thought about building one of my own from an old servo. granted it wont have the scale look. but if im gonna have one might as well be able to lift the rig verticle if i want.

Re: impulse winch buy

yeah. this one is only rated for 3.3lbs. a snack block would double that though

Did you build that bumper your self?

Re: impulse winch buy, rc4wd, custom bumper and winch pull test

I did.

My frames broken so I'm gearing up to get wild

Where exactly did it break? Was it because of the bad ass bumper?

Re: impulse winch buy, rc4wd, custom bumper and winch pull test

Actually I was chasing my horse and it got kicked. My bumper is holding the front end together.

Think I said that.

Loops sorry I thought I said how it broke but I didn't.

This bumper is holding up awesome. Has survived high speed cartwheels and horse kicks.
