Default What to expect from bigger turn motor?

Im strictly crawling with my Wraith. It currently has an Axial 20T motor. I think it works pretty damn good.
If I put in a 27, 45, 55T motor is it really more torque? power? Would I notice an increased crawl ability?
I'm running 87/14 gearing

IM still brand new to crawlers so I only know what I have.

Yes you'll gave more torque. But if you get a 27t Holmes Hobbies torque master you'll have speed and torque.

Axial 55T is less than $20. Is there a downside to that high turns?

I have my Wraith setup for crawling only...

Parts include:

Axial 87 Tooth Spur Gear
Axial 14 Tooth Pinion Gear
Tekin FXR ESC and 35 Turn Motor (Crawler System)= Freakin AWESOME !!!
Torque went through the roof with the gear swaps.

This setup crawls really slowly. Its like my old Jeep TJ with 4.56 gears in low range and Atlas Transfer case.

If it is working good for you, I would do things like moving the battery forward, adding/tuning weight and steering mods first.

If you are ready to look at different motor options, then also check the HH Crawlmaster 13T. The 5 slot arm produces really smooth low speed crawling. A 13T Crawlmaster is about the same speed as the 27T TorqueMaster.

That would be really slow with your gearing but it will work. That motor won't last forever though compared to a Holmes or other popular brand

I just put weighted XR10 wheels on with Sedonas and CI foams. HUGE improvement. I know my motor is old and that motors are fairly inexpensive.
Looks like I'll keep an eye out for a Holmes

Only had my wraith a few weeks but I'm running a 17.5 Orion brushless motor that I use to run in my 2wd buggy. I have it geared 16/87 and it has plenty of grunt and even a little speed.

Higher turn# more torque, less Rpm
Lower turn# more Rpm,less torque

@30-35t on 3s is a decent combo for crawlability and a lil wheelspeed
when needed.

Motors faster than about 2100kv (27t torquemaster type) produce less torque because of brush saturation with standard copper brushes. Sealed can motors lose torque a bit earlier from the cheaper brush compound. Anything 27t or slower will have great torque.
