So... The rebuild begins. I love trying new things! The stock chassis is completely new. I broke the old one. I put the BGR KOH Cage and Rear Shock tower up in the for sale section. Losing the spare will drop a good amount of weight alone. Fiona won't be quite as 'thick'. I'm shooting for nine pounds or less. Preferably less... I'm going to get rid of the BGR stinger, and possible the sliders too. I can't let the front shock tower go though... unless I go IFS, which I don't think I will. I've ordered a new hard body to wrap her in. She'll still be a blue oval crawler, but she won't be a Bronco any more. I may even paint her pink and do a 'Crawl 4 Penelope' theme on her. We'll see. I like flat black A LOT, so that may be a stretch. Last edited by TheScaleAddict; 12-04-2013 at 09:58 PM. |

ive done about a dozen of these for various club members to do the testing for about two years now !! not one has failed yet - the plastic chassis brakes first !! "ask HARLEY" 10 parts per bumper - all cold roll 3/16" & 1/4" square steel - 1/4" steel round stinger. all one peace - stiffens the chassis front end a whole bunch ! never really offered them out to the crawler world yet, just never could find time to do more than one @ a time ! trying to get around 50 of these done in the next few weeks, its a slow & boring process building these ! building 50 is my gold - but i still have ways to go yet |

The body showed up yesterday. It's going to require MUCH more modification than I had hoped, but it is going to look sick once it's done. I'll post pics when I have it 'roughly' assembled. I'm leaning more and more toward a color theme in honor of Penelope and all the support y'all have shown for her. I just wish I had more time to work on it so that I could share it with y'all.

I still have a lot of work to do on the body, but I'm happy to be making progress a little bit at a time. It's nice to have something to work on. For me, it's therapeutic! So far, I've hacked quite a bit of it off and channeled the hood. The more I examine the body, the more I see that I have to do yet. I would have had a couple of days work on the flaws alone had I left it as it was. It'll be a smooth as a baby's bottom when I'm through with it. I finished cutting up the body. All that's left now is fabrication, some paint prep, and paint. "All that's left." Wait, now that I think about it, I still have to cut the hood for a hinged hood. Meh... that will come later. For now, I'm leaving the hood in tact until I finish the fab work on the grill and bumper. All in due time. Clearly, I have my work cut out for me. |

Please tell me you didn't butcher a candyapple stang These parts will cause the plastic to break were if it was all plastic it wouldn't Mines not near as curvaceous but gets the job done Last edited by evan03; 12-12-2013 at 09:22 PM. |

I noticed the camera was scarred of the ass end but did focus on the rear in this one so I gave it some fill light. Looks awesome though the plate is scsemi scary looking might to thin for the weld process Or maybe because its a vertical weld the flat plate looks awesome all around it looks awesome Last edited by evan03; 12-12-2013 at 08:10 PM. |

Next on the list will be to create door panels. I am going to put supports behind the door panels like the ribs you would see in an airplane wing. It won't be terrible complicated, and it won't add much weight (which is the catalyst for this rebuild), but it will be very strong. Finishing the door panels to the rear will give me the area that I will need to fabricate the rear panel, which will tie into the mustang's rear 'grill'. I'm sure there's an actual name for that, I just don't know what it is. Last edited by TheScaleAddict; 12-13-2013 at 10:50 AM. | |||
