Wouldn't look scale with larger bearings though.

The gears are not really too small. When shimmed properly and without deflection from blown bearings the gear sets hold a lot of power.

Harley is currently testing some prototypes, just a matter of how well they hold up and if any changes need made.

I have put 2.5 hours through them so far. No difference wear to speak of. I have documented the install and put it on youtube. I will keep updating on the wear and see how long they last. With what we were assuming before, these should last at least 10 times as long but that has yet to be proven. I can get about an hour of driving in per night on these. Tomorrow I am going to a full size event and will try and put some runtime on them again.

So far so good.

Glad I saw that before I ordered the overdrive for the front axle! My bearings failed and destroyed my rear gears (pro4 power) so I under drove the rear. Looks like I am gonna under drive the front too

I've got maybe 8 hours of run time on them so far and they are still slop free. I wasn't getting that out of my old ones before they were wasted. Not sure how far I am going to keep testing before they are fine with giving them the thumbs up.

Josh, they need more testers. Seriously... I nominate myself. I figure I deserve it, since I started this thread, and I have a bushing shredding rig.

Why no comparison between the two? I'd like to see how tight the tollerance is between them and a brand new traxxas bushing. Part of a long lasting part in this application is to have the tightest tollerance to begin with. Also, are they so hard that we will start seeing pinion shaft wear?

C86300 Manganese Bronze - SAE 430 B

With a 225 Brinell hardness I suspect the pinion shaft will wear more than the bushing.

Still waiting for VP to announce so I can get a confirm on this material but I have heard nothing so far to the negative & that looks like the stuff to me.

Hardened pinion shafts next?

It's official, we're changing your name to Iron Man. You know WAY too much about metals.

So.... Is this softer than Axial's hardened pinion shafts? (from the upgraded HD ring and pinion sets)

Soon please. I blew a bearing Sunday.

I just never thought to grab new Traxxas bushings. They fit nice and tight when new as well as I am sure most people will agree with. That doesn't have much to do with the reason they wear out.

You started a spin-off thread of a topic in the bulletproof thread. No soup for you!

We've got more hours to run on these and I'll talk with them again this week.

The Axial shafts are hardened I believe, although I am not sure as to what value.
