| Wraith Battery Plate mod
I added a **** battery plate, but I had read a post about it not allowing the receiver box to be mounted back how it was before. So here is what to do to get around this. Here is what a stock - no plate - battery move looks like. This setup leaves a little bit to be desired. After removing the upper cross member and swinging the shock mounting post out of the way. You can slide the plate into position. Later on I will cut back the kick panels. The issue is that the receiver box sits too close to the battery after the plate installation. And with the lid on it is impossible to use it as stock. So the solution is to move the box forward to the extra hole at the front. Use the slotted holes to mount some screws/retainers. You will need to cut some V Groves to align with the newer style receiver box holes. This plate must have been created before a change to the receiver box (or something). Bottom view of forward mounting hole. Bottom view of a V Groove cut at the original mounting hole location. Just do the same up front. Now the relocated box clears the back cross member and has play to work with at the front cross member. This leaves a nice tray which uses the original hold down strap supports for the battery, and also gets around the receiver box interference issue. |

So that's a CKRC forward battery plate why not just cut the dash brace and lay the battery down flat. It says that in the instructions on the CKRC site. By moving the receiver box forward does?? |

Doesn't the servo hit the receiver box when setup like this? Mine did at first, though I think I eventually managed to get just enough clearance. Have since moved all the electronics to the factory battery location behind the seats, in a project box.

The short answer is no. But also you cannot do a panhard setup like this since the servo would be where the box is moved forward.

You can also move your ESC to the back where the battery used to be, and mount other gear there as well. I fabbed up a little piece of .040 and countersunk the holes to mount it back with the original hardware. I also mounted an On/Off push button switch in the center console. I have the same plate. I used servo tape to move and mount the receiver box forward towards the servo. I'm running VP chassis mounted servo kit and the panhard bar, no problems. I'm using the 208oz servo from the same people who make the plate. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3317-44324.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3317-44326.jpg Last edited by raceeng18; 05-04-2013 at 08:35 PM. Compromises... My rx box is in factory position and my battery fits just fine.. You just have to use what fits.. My battery of choice is a Thunder Power 4300mah 3s hard case. Fits perfect.

I like ESC and RX in the back and battery in the front.

Thanks SlocrawlTx, the VP stuff is first class. Pricey, but I've only had to buy it once.

Are you running the VP metal replicas of the stock axle or did you go with the Currie axles. At any rate, any installation problems with the axles? I may go with the VP axles in the near future due to the fact I've already purchased the VP C hubs and knuckles. I like my red ARB diff covers too.

Good ideas, I kept the stock battery location and moved the electronics to the back so I could install a Heyok servo winch up front. I run a Turnagy 3600 3 cell 40 c battery. All has been working out great. |
