Default Jeep Poison spyder wraith- issues popping up now...

I just got this yesterday and I must say I am impressed...I have a heavily modified crawler king and I like the wraith better overall, however, the crawler king has its positives as well.

I will eventually mod the wraith as well, similar to the mods on the crawler king but until I do I can honestly say I am very pleased with it in its stock form!

the tires grip rocks well, and the shocks are adjustable to get rid of most of the torque twist. I will post more as I test this out.

6-2-13 I am having issues pop up now that I have used it for a few days, nothing heavy or bashing about the use so far...

steering servo loose internally
poor battery lead routing
loose steering arms
more issues as I find them

i turned the collar down to about halfway on the shocks, made noticeable improvement in the twist and stability

I mean when they are screwed in. I have seen them peel right off. Make sure the screws are tight enough

they are, the first thing i do is go and check all the screws on everything...oddly enough the only loose ones were the ones holding the steering arm to the knuckle on both sides...

that is because the plastic tie rod and drag link binds where they attach to the knuckle. Usually best to leave those a tad loose

well it had an issue steering because they were so loose, the servo took up alot of play before it turned the wheels.

another issue I have found is the terrible position and routing of the battery and battery lead, on top of it having a tamiya style connector that is a low current type molex connector, really??? with a lipo battery??? I changed it to a traxxas style since all my batteries are that style anyway.

I re-routed the leads along side of the motor leads under the floorboard/interior and its a little easier to hook up, but still a poor design in my opinion

another issue I have found is that the steering servo is loose internally, when the tires are moved side to side you can actually see the servo shaft move side to side rather than rotating, this translates into about a half inch of movement at the wheel without the servo arm actually turning.

I am figuring I got a bad servo and am going to replace it with something better. Any suggestions?

i had used the traxxas 2075 in my rock crawler front and rear steering, they seem to work fine, but i know they are plastic gears...looking for a little less costly solution for now...since money is tight after forking out the bucks for the wraith lol

is there any other hitec servo that would be good?

I was looking at this one as well, anybody using this one?

didnt know that was possible...

this servo appears to not have a bushing in the faceplate...just molded plastic

i just bought mine yesterday and so far so good with any loose bolts. I did have a lipo battery run low on me tho, not sure if the lipo cut off was set right? it sure sounded to chime right though.

I argree with you on the battery routing. its horrible with large hands/fingers. I would like it under the hood but since we have the spyder edition the hood and fenders are one piece. the steering servo is getting replaced with a hi-tec 7980 or 7955. my crawler has the 7955 right now, 7980 is in the mail

I have a set of irok tires for it but just waiting to pick out the right wheels for it. also would like to build the drive line to handle 3s/brushless power, its great how it is stock but a little more speed and a lot more grunt would be the best for me.
