| Complete Noob Build Thread
This is my first RC car/build ever. I'm learning that it is very addictive as well as a constant work in progress. So far I've done the following; Purchased a stock Wraith about 3 weeks ago. Within about 3 days burned out the stock motor. So have since made the following upgrades; Motor - Tekin ROC412 BL ESC - Mamba Max Pro Servo - Savox SC-1267SG Moved battery towards front of chassis Have also upgraded the Diff. Gear and idler gear to Robison Racing aliminum gears. Running it with a couple of Racers Edge 75c, 6000mah LiPo batteries. Any critiques, recomendations, etc. on above as well as what to do next? I'm very overwhelmed by the amount of info. available and options out there. I've spent hours on this and a few other forums so far. Thanks in advance! |

Burned up in 3 days?! Are you looking for speed/bash or crawl? |

Yeah, I think I was doing too much slow crawling with the stock engine. Too be honest, really a combination. Long term, more crawling. Thanks!

I bought mine in April and has about 4 minutes of runtime because I keep changing things. There are so many ways people change up this rig that it's difficult for me to settle on one look... or motor/gear combo for that matter. I think I finally settled the motor/gear combo but still not settled on looks. This is a fun r/c for sure!! Enjoy your journey with it!!

Sounds like you're headed down the right path. What KV 412 did you get? I have the 3100kv and gave it a thorough thrashing this weekend. Drove a 6 mile hike (yes, 6 real miles) with lots of trails and several diversions to crawl on some rocks. Anyway, my fan on the MMP kicked on a lot, but the motor was great. Crawlability was awesome and speed on trails was good on 2s and 58/12 gearing.

Ordered VP chubs, knuckles, lockouts, links, tie-rod, and drag link today. Very excited to get them and test them out!

You have a great set up. Is it bouncy when you go fast? Shocks or working on your shocks should be the next upgrade. Or maybe wheels and tires

Shocks might be the first upgrade. Everything else replace as it breaks. Great start |

Welcome to the RC hobby. I'm just getting back into it after years out. So did you get the RTR or the kit? I'm still trying to decide which way I want to go, but if the stock motor and other electronics are not goo, maybe I'll get the kit and do it right from the start.

I got the RTR, but in hindsight should have just got the kit. I'll end up switching everything out that is stock for the most part.

I'm new to this hobby myself. Hmm I was thinking about getting the RTR but maybe I should go with a kit.

I think the RTR can be overwhelming for us new to the hobby. However, it is fun to get hands on and I do think I'll end up upgrading most components from stock...

In St. George, Utah for the weekend so had some time to get the Vanquish Products hardware all installed. First time out, very impressive! I'm having another issue I don't know what to do to resolve. I'll be going either forward or revers and all the sudden the engine goes full throttle in the opposite direction. Any thoughts? Thanks! Last edited by rxfoote; 06-23-2013 at 05:24 PM. |

I bought the kit and wonder if I should have got the ready to run. Inner axle shafts on the front seems to be the only worthwhile upgrade that the kit has |

My R/C history began in 1986. In my day, either you built it or you didn't get it. It was a BADGE OF HONOR to build your rig. Only TOY grade cars were prebuilt! It is good to see that kits are still offered. For those of us manly men who build things! |

Looking good! Be sure to get some universals or better yet the Vanquish VVDs next to take full advantage of the chubs and knuckles! It'll turn so much better and be silky smooth. I like where you're headed!
