Motor or ESC. Sniff out which. what motor do you run? ESC? Battery?

What gears are you running? (R&P, spur, etc)

Probably the motor. Drop the skid and put your sniffer up to the motor. If it is the motor, you will know.

Yep....prolly both, motor and ESC. My bet is the motor is the smell. You should gear down on the pinion. Stock gearing is to tall and it will run hot.

Check out Harley's sticky at the top of the Wraith page for Choosing a motor and ESC. I don't know much, but the majority of what I've learned is from that thread. Well worth the time it takes to read it. Hope that helps and enjoy your Wraith.

Aim for a 6:1 ratio.
Cheap is a 87T 48 P Spur (stock scx10 spur) & a 14T Pinion.
Your top speed will go down considerably but should keep your stock motor alive till the brushes go.
